I think these writers and producers are sometimes blind to what the fans see.

Which is just sad since they should care. Not care to the point of practically letting the fans write the show... but just having somewhat of a clue what fan response is out there.

Yes, they tied up the stories really nicely in the Series Finale. To be honest though, I didn't like how Nina sold her house and was all ready to go to California with Jake, even to the point of them being at the airport gate ready to board their flight, and Jake had to tell Nina to go to Andy because she loved Andy and not him. To me, that made Nina look wishy-washy and unable to make a decision on her own.

One of the rumored storylines for Season Five was that Nina, while with Andy, would find out that she was pregnant with Jake's child. It was another soapy storyline that Greg Berlanti supposedly pitched to The C.W. to try to get the show renewed.

Sorry that I’ve been bumping up so many old threads lately.

I agree that Nina looked wish-washy, but I also think she was genuinely confused. I think she loved Andy more, but I think she loved Jake too. And I think Sam being so attached to Jake was a huge reason she stayed with him too. With all of this said, I thought Andy’s proposal to Nina was perfect.

It's fine to bump up threads here. We actually like it so we can continue these discussions. I sent you a Private Message earlier.

I agree that Nina really was torn, and the fact that Sam loved Jake so much really did factor into her decision to go with Jake. Still though, I wish that she had made the decision to go back to Andy instead of Andy making the decision for her.

I agree that Andy's proposal to Nina was perfect.

Very true. I think the story line was salvaged somewhat just by the fact that it was obvious that Nina really did love Andy even though she didn’t want to admit it. I mean, she was certainly emotional in accepting his proposal.

When do you think both Andy and Nina started developing feelings for each other? Was it close to the same time? One earlier?

That’s a good question because one of the things I liked about Andy/Nina was how subtle they were. I can’t really think of specific moments. I think they both sort of “ friend zoned” each other just due to life circumstances when they met. She was married, and he was grieving the loss of his wife, so neither one was available for a relationship. In some ways that helped them to grow close really quickly. There was no tension on either side, which allowed them to open up completely to each other. Funny enough, I think it was Jake who made them both aware of their feelings for each other albeit at different times. So I think Nina at least became aware of her feelings first but not by much.

What do you think?

I think your comments are so right on! They had an easy friendship In the beginning. The only conflict they had Was because of foot massagers and porn magazines!

What made them so appealing for me was that romantic or otherwise, they just really clicked with each other. That’s rare and special thing IMO.

Great thoughts. Jake really did help them see the light.

Yes, there were subtle hints earlier but nothing concrete until later on. In S1 Andy attempted to go to a singles mixer and Nina did seem a little awkward finding out. Very subtle. Or the clear parallel in 1.10 ... I have always found this episode to be "the episode" for the two main romantic pairings, Ephram/Amy & Andy/Nina. Notice what goes on with the two pairings at the party... huge, enormous, massive parallel taking place. You have both pairings fully acting like, well, "pairings" and you see it plain as day. Berlanti made such a special point of making it clear in this very episode these were his two pairings and they were ending up together. But it was also clear both pairings were in for a long ride. It was like Andy/Nina were established in S1 but we would see a very slow build until anything concrete transpired between them romantically. Their friendship bond allowed them to eventually get there.

I agree. Felt this way with both AN and EA.

One thing I loved about Nina was that she never judged Andy for “ talking” to Julia. She was just there for him as a supportive friend.

It’s interesting. I know Andy told Julia( at the cemetery) in the finale that that should be their last goodbye, but as long as it didn’t hinder the relationship, I think Nina would actually be okay with the occasional visit. She’d probably even go with him.

Nina was actually the only one who didn't look down on Andy for "talking" to Julia when he first came to Everwood, and I really liked that about her because it showed that she had a kind and understanding heart. Almost everyone called him crazy then, including Ephram, but Nina never did.

I honestly don't understand why Andy felt like his visit to Julia's grave should be his last one, because Julia was his wife and the mother of his children, so why not continue to visit her grave if he was in New York? I don't see that as dwelling on the past at all, and I don't think that Nina would either. I still visit my parents' grave when I go up to New Jersey and my wife and I still visit her parents' graves.

Maybe Andy just worried it would be disrespectful to Nina somehow if he continued to visit Julia’s grave? I think that scene was supposed to signify the fact that he was finally letting go and moving on. But I agree with you. As long as it’s not an obsessive thing, occasional visits should be fine.
