* Disney’s live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid, which since May has grossed more than $542 million at the global box office, will premiere on Disney+ Wednesday, Sept. 6 — along with bonus content that includes Javier Bardem as King Triton performing “Impossible Child,” and the featurettes “Passing the Dinglehopper” and “Under the Sea – Song Breakdown.”

Apparently, that's a bomb to some people lol. I can't wait to finally get the Blu Ray in September too!

Is it still in theatres? A "bomb" or not, more importantly to me is if ones that watched that film enjoyed it or not.

It wasn't a bomb, the haters just tried to twist themselves to believe it was lol. I loved the hell out of this film, so it's definitely worth watching. I think it's one of the best live action adaptions along with The Jungle Book, Cinderella, and Beauty and The Beast IMO. Eric/Ariel are the best live action couple out of them all though lol.

It still technically isn't profitable even over 500 million dollars. They spent a lot of money advertising this. It needs to really hit 600 million to start turning a profit. Hopefully this premium rental that's available now will help as the same for the blu ray/4k release. I think it's even coming on DVD, too. (which is absurd because blu ray is already out of date)

Well, D.V.D.'s at least just in I think 2021 were outselling Blu-rays. I prefer to watch movies on D.V.D. if possible than streaming them.

there's no periods, it's just DVD. That blows my mind. It's like people like crappy quality and terrible audio. Ever play a DVD on a 4,000 dollar TV? Looks like crap. But, a TV setup is only as good as its weakest link. If you have a tube TV, a VCR will look good. If you have an early model HD TV but not a smart one, DVD will look good. Even some blu rays look terrible on my tv, though. Depends on the setup. Anything less than 4K on my set up looks like garbage.

That said, you are right, DVDs did outsell blu ray. Saturation in the market for those sales are kids themed movies. DVD outsells 4K, too. Maybe they'll be a comeback like vinyl records. Hell, I've even seen some cassettes lately like the new Metallica album came out on cassette.

Stores still sell them. The picture is pretty good on HDTV I think. I found "The Little Mermaid" from 1975 on Tubi, so will catch that sometime.
