I guess Pulaski did interact with Worf a bit, but I never thought of their relationship as a developing friendship. But when neither one were really 'pwoplep' people, perhaps it was a start.

At least her character was not as annoying as Crusher.
It is difficult to evaluate how well she would have fit in, since she was only there for one season. She was not around long enough for viewers to get used to. It was easier for people to accept crusher, because her past was intertwined with Picard's, making it easy for those two to interact in a way engaging to the viewers. Crusher's son being on the ship added another element to their relationship. Pulaski was dropped into the show without the benefit of prior friendships or feuds with other members of the crew. It would have taken her two or three seasons to become "one of the group."

My rewatch of TNG has progressed from season 1 to the end of season 6. Only one more to go.

The other characters managed to develop friendships by the end of the first season. Although perhaps it's easier when everybody is new to make friends than to join in after the fact.

My feeling, good and bad, about the first five seasons are posted about a page up in the thread. I might review the entire series later if I feel energetic.

I'll be interested to know if you feel that the last season loses focus and it was time to end it, or whether you feel it could have continued.

Thine own self

Riker: Deanna, this is nothing personal. Not everyone is cut out to be a bridge officer. I don´t think this is for you.

Deanna: Why? Because I’m not the most technically-minded person on ship? I may have trouble telling the difference between a plasma conduit and a phase inducer, but there’s more to being a bridge officer then memorizing technical manuals.

Determined Deanna! And she is right, that technical expertise is only part of the requirement to be a good bridge officer.

Good scene and eppy for Troi, like that they focused on the command side of her role..

While she usually sat on the bridge, I doubt most people thought of her as being capable of actually taking command if necessary.

There is a good reason people would not think of a councillor as a commander. The two positions have different skill sets.

I agree with you to a point. She would definitely need to set aside some of her strengths as a counsellor to be a good captain. The people skills would come in handy, but a good knowledge of the technical side would be necessary.
