Forgive me for double-posting, but it's a good few days later and I'm really bothered.

I now know what's the worst Trek -The Lower Decks. Episode after episode the main male character is shown to be hopeless and uncool while the main female character is shown to be endlessly cool and super-capable. At first I tried to like it, but eventually this pattern wears you down. The episode I watched last night was also anti-male in other ways. So it's about time to say it, the show is sexist and misandrist. It's sick and nasty. The episode left me going to bed with my self-worth undermined and drained and when I slept I had nightmares revolving around lack of self-worth. Now I really know how cruel that show is.

I call out Paramount for the irresponsibility of putting that show out there. Women and girls aren't the only people who can have self-esteem issues. Men and boys can have them too. In Ireland the rate of suicide among men is very high, so we know about male self-hatred and male self-harm. We don't need a show constantly ramming home that men are worthless. No thank you, Paramount. And I will avoid anything made by Mike McMahan from now on. And I question the classification of Lower Decks as "adult animation." Prodigy is for kids and it's more mature and enlightened than this garbage.

Too much comedy out there is about denigrating people. Star Trek is supposed to be better than that. I didn't realize it could stoop so low. Running down any gender is wrong and unevolved. Star Trek is supposed to be evolved.

I only watched the first episodes of both of the current animated series so can't comment.

Would completely agree that humour at the expense of denigrating any group isn't funny.

Been binging DS9 where wished had given in more attention back in the 90s but am watching it now

I'm most likely to watch an episode of TNG. Should make an effort to switch it up with some DS9
