No matter what the reason, he cannot justify what he did nor will he ever redeem himself for it. I hate how he got off so easily and I still didn't like how they brought him back in S4 either. Hmm a part of me wants to think it was premeditated but what if Brian hadn't shown up? Would he still have done that to Justin? For some reason I don't think so. Justin was there with Daphne and he was having a good time, dancing with her and all of that. When Brian showed up at the prom Chris was definitely shocked. Then to see them dance together...maybe that's what triggered it, who knows. That's my take on it anyway.

Do you think that Chris could've evolved in a different way or that at one point his violent, homophobic evolution became impossible to avoid?

Totally the latter. Usually, it's because of the family or parents. They act all homophobic and don't even think about hiding it, so their children see it and think that it's the right thing to do. It's worse when those children are very receptive to such influences and somehow I'm pretty sure that this was the case with Chris. Sooner or later he would have snapped.

I think the fact that the hj took place scared Chris because he had some homosexual tendencies and then Justin confronted and outed him in front of Chris's friends which was a bad idea, but I can understand why Justin did it
