I found the following on an open forum, so I'm assuming it's ok to post it here. This is from someone who knew Gale when he was growing up in GA. Since we hardly ever hear about his past and what he was like growing up, I loved reading this and wanted to share it here:

I grew up with Gale-- we were friends at school and church, and he definitely was not gay back then. Gale was always a sweetie and very good looking. He was in the 5th or 6th grade when I first met him. He was very well known and well liked, and just about every girl I knew had a crush on him. I had a little crush on him too, but we were just friends. We used to hang out and listen to music...... lots of U2. He loved Monty Python and did hilarious impersonations!

I always enjoyed hanging around Gale, he was a lot of fun and very charismatic. In our circle of friends he was already kind of a "star". He would always crack me up with his fake British accent and quotes from The Holy Grail. We used to hang out at the mall and he was always doing crazy stuff for attention, not a shy bone in his body.

I don't remember him saying "you know" alot, but he did always use big words. He was very mature for his age and seemed to have a thing for older girls.

I feel kinda bad, I know Gale is a private person so I feel funny talking about him, yet there is nothing bad to say at least. His first real girlfriend was my friend's older sister. She was 16 and he was 14, they dated for about 4 years, and he was definitely very into her.

Watching him on QAF, he seems very much the same as far as his expressions and mannerisms go. His sense of sarcasm is very much like his character's. Actually, he hasn't seemed to age much at all either. He looks pretty much the same, but he wasn't quite as muscular when he was younger, and of course his hair's darker now. He's always had that intense look though.


He's very funny, intelligent, outgoing but not loud, and an extremely talented soccer player. He was around 6'1 and had sandy blond (natural) hair when I knew him. He's a year older than me, haven't seen him since he was 18 or 19. His mama is a pastor and still lives here in metro Atlanta. He's got a younger, look-a-like brother too.

It's wonderful to see him doing so well for himself! This Georgia boy has done us proud.

Yeah we were wondering about this with Kate... We tend to get sceptic when it comes to the "I knew him in school" people You just never know and to be honest anyone could come up with such description. The person in question also included a yearbook pic that was already mentioned here a few threads back... It doesn't prove anything but it was still fun to see the pic

*nods* If I remember correctly, we stopped talking about this in our e-mails, because we both agreed that it doesn't seem real, since everybody can make this up and go into a public library to look at old yearbooks, if you know which school Gale went to. Besides, when I've read this, I wondered which school that person was actually talking about, because Gale actually changed high schools at one point, which isn't even mentioned in there and what makes me even more sceptical - among other things. Erm, yeah, like I said, I've already talked a lot with Do about this.

Totally It's just giving details without really giving anything that private that might be proving knowing him. I mean most of his fans could easily come up with such description because it just seems fitting his personality.
