I was talking books with my Aunt last night who's very well read and she brought up JKR as a writer. She had such high praises for her it made me proud. Usually my Aunt is always talking about books and authors I've never heard of and it goes way over my head. But last night I couldn't help but smile at FINALLY her giving props to one of my own favs.

I mentioned that to her and she agreed with him! Ha! I never knew my aunt (who's like in her 60s) was so cool. At least when it came to books.

again, i don't think Stephen meant that in a negative way because he's just speaking out his mind. heck, even if he said that to JKR, i'd respect it.

Yeah it was his opinion but one that wasn't sugar coated to be neutral. He has is favourites and he's entitled to voice it. Heck, it was the newspaper to make the comparison in the first place to him. He just answered it honestly.

And plus, this is coming from the Stephen King, it really means a lot either way. It's not the fact that he praised JKR that I liked, it's that he was bluntly honest. If it was the diss to Jo and praise for SM, like Linds, I would have respected it too

J.K. Rowling has been nominated in the Glamour magazine Women of the Year awards 2009 in the 'writer' category for The Tales of Beedle the Bard. You can vote for Jo by going to this page. Her competition includes Dawn French (the Fat Lady) for her autobiography Dear Fatty and Julie Walters (Molly) for her autobiography That's Another Story. Other women in the category include; Cecelia Ahern, India Knight, Jodi Picoult, Rose Tremain, Sophie Kinsella and Zoe Heller. The awards will be presented on Tuesday June 2nd 2009.
