This is a thread dedicated to Jk.Rowling where we can wax poetically about how awesome she is and to discuss the latest news about her and any interviews with her.

Like this one from the Girl Guides of Scotland.

If anyone finds other interviews (old or new) please feel free to post them here.

ETA: Here's the Rant she posted on her site talking about thin girls.

Jo was in Paris earlier, at the presidential palace to receive the Légion d'Honneur, the highest civil decoration in France. She now has the title of Knight. :D

You can see the pics here.

Thanks for posting the link Malaussene.

Here's what President Sarkozy says about giving Jo the honour:

Quote:

“Harry Potter has a proven educational virtue and, thanks to this saga being internationally recognized, you contributed to give again a taste with the young people with reading but also with writing. With you, they understand that reading is not a punishment but a source of pleasure.”

Nicolas Sarkozy described J.K. Rowling as a “woman impassioned by her trade” and “a woman with the exceptional talent.” He also underlined the “initiatory universe” that she created, “which makes it possible to the reader to decipher the world to be built” and which “one does not underline it enough, is before any carrier of values. For all that you brought to youth in general, and to the French children in particular, you deserve amply that the French Republic honours you this evening.”
Jo herself admitted that her grandfather had received the Legion of Honor, as well, in 1924:

Quote:

My grandfather was French, and was decorated with the Legion of honor in 1924 for [his] courage at the time of the battle of Verdun.” J.K. Rowling was also [sorry] to have chosen a “French name with (its) character malefic,” Voldemort. “I can ensure you that no feeling anti-French is at the origin of this choice,” she pled, “but I needed at the same time a name which evokes the capacity and exoticism.”

Congrats Jo! :D

*is busy fangirling you along with Stephen King* ;)

baileycat 02-03-2009 04:33 PM

hee hee. Oh yeah, Stephen rocks my socks at this point. :D Needless to say he's got great taste and is impressively smart.

I've admired him for a long time, but when he expressed his love for HP, my love for him skyrocketed. Then he had to go and praise the epilogue in DH and my love hit the roof. Now my love is through the roof and up in the sky. *giddy* He's such a Jo Rowling fanboy.

He did as well as another comment today comparing her to another recently popular authoress... and lets just say, in Stephen Kings eyes, Jo wins. ;)

Leo-4-Life 02-03-2009 08:03 PM

Stephen King kicks ass. :D

As does Jo!! :woot:

KJJ1588 02-03-2009 08:17 PM

Is there a link to the article that King likes the Epilogue?

I know he did a review for OOTP and he is a fan of HP.

And can I be added please? :flowers:

wyndrider 02-03-2009 08:18 PM

Jo and Stephen King Rocks!!! :woot: :woot:

And he loved the epilogue, eh? :smirk: This is a great day. :sigh:

And add me too, please. :daisy:

baileycat 02-03-2009 08:20 PM

I seem to recall it was an Entertainment Weekly review. He's done many of those.

KJJ1588 02-03-2009 08:23 PM

Nevermind, I found it, and another one he did.

He called the Epilogue "Gorgeous"

I never read Stephen King's books, but I've always loved his reviews and insight. I actually have read a book of his, a memoir called "On Writing."

baileycat 02-03-2009 08:30 PM

I read a couple of them but I feel like out of respect I should be reading more of his now.

KJJ1588 02-03-2009 08:31 PM

I just watch the movies. They're entertaining. On Writing was excellent though.

I read another review, once again he praises Rowling but he doesn't like S. Meyer's work at all. Ouch.
