It could have been a thought in the back of their minds. If his brother joined the Death Eaters, then maybe Sirius did too. And I always noticed how highly up everyone seemed to think that Sirius was in the Death Eaters - he was pretty much considered the worst of them all.

But Sirius himself was so contemptuous at the idea of joining Voldemort. Not only was he locked up, his friends dead, but everyone thought he did something that was completely against who he was.

very true. And I always wondered why his family didn't kick him out of home as soon as he was put into Gryffindore...there must have been something that made them think we was still part of the family. Now I'M confused. We should write to JK and ask her.

Any way to find out more info about Sirius.........

Maybe they hoped that their family's influence on Sirius would be stronger than Gryffindor's. The probably weren't counting on Sirius finding friends who became his family, and who he cared about more.

Yeah, I wonder if he would have lived longer as a death eater.

Now there's a sad thought.

Still, even if that were true, I'm sure Sirius would have preferred the life he led, even with the way it ended, to that alternative. He loved his friends so much, and was so totally against the idea of joining the Evil side. I mean, he can't even begin to fathom Peter's betrayal - the idea is so foreign to who he is.

I've been a bad thread starter But I have an excuse: I have been away for four weeks without access to the internet (can you believe people still live like that - no internet and all ) But anyway, I'm back now.

Oh... and to be on topic - I still believe Sirius is not dead. (As much as I believe Snape is not evil, but that belongs in another thread )

Hmm..I'm still not 100% convinced he's gone, but denial is my friend...and I agree about Snape.

Interesting. We have got to discuss this when you come visit me
Did I tell you we'll have another girl from England joining us for GoF? She's a friend of Lauren's and she's studying in Berlin

I'm still uncertain about Snape's loyalties and motivations. However, much as I would like to believe otherwise, I do think that Sirius is gone. But I hope to see some more of him, either in flashbacks or memories, in the last book.

I just finished reading a Remus/Tonks fic that ended at the end of OotP, and it almost got me crying, as Remus dealt with Sirius's loss.

I think Remus is the only real Marauder left. Peter is just...a traitor. So much death. At least we have Sirius in Movie five. I mean, he has to be in it..
