I've never really considered that. I wonder what Sirius's response was to Muggle TV, movies, music, etc. Since Lily was Muggle-born, I'm sure that he was exposed to Muggle culture, at least through her.  __________________

Hmm, so I was wondering - what was Sirius like before coming to Hogwarts? He grew up in a family of dark Wizards (even if they weren't all Death Eaters), but the Sorting Hat put him in Gryffindor. I wonder if that was a huge shock (rather like if a Weasley would be sorted into Slytherin

I've wondered that. Do you think he was into the Dark stuff or that he was the black(or would it be white
) sheep of the family?I'm guessing, that he wouldn't have been like the rest of his family. |

He can't have been all like his family or he wouldn't have been put into Gryffindor. There had to be the seeds of being on the Good side even then. (I actually don't think that all Slytherins are evil, but from what we've seen/heard of the Black family, I would say the majority of them were - at least in recent years.
 )Something that always struck me, ever since reading PoA was how completely (perhaps easily?) people believed that Sirius betrayed James and Lily. I mean, yeah, he was supposedly their secret keeper, and he was "caught in the act". But it was well-known how close James and Sirius were, how strong their friendshp was. Yet everyone seemed able to believe that Sirius was on Voldemort's side, that he was a Death Eater. I always wondered if there was something in his past that would predispose them to believe this, something other than and against his friendship with James Potter. I guess his family history could be it. His brother was a Death Eater, and he came from a family of Dark wizards. I guess some people would accept that Sirius would follow along with the rest of his family. (Although Sirius isn't the only rebel against the Black family traditions. There's Tonks and her mother, who married a Muggle.) __________________
