Thanks so much for the new thread, Rod.

SOOOOOO happy Nadal got the title in Rome! He needed this win so bad! I was incredibly thrilled for him especially given how he played the whole week.

Amazing win by my girl Karolina Pliskova too!

I am ready for the French Open. Let's go!

Well some of us might be ready for the French Open, but it's not ready for us as there are still qualifying matches to take place. I'll miss Gasquet's match tomorrow as it's start's around 3:30 A.M. Pacific Time vs. Taylor Fritz. Enjoy these matches if you watch.

Apparently Gasquet retired from his match today with Fritz. Anyone see what happened earlier today in it?

No.

They didn't air that one.

It might have been on The Tennis Channel Plus, which I do not have and am not paying for, lol.

Thanks for the new thread!

I am very much looking forward to the French Open.

I'm confused about Gasquet being in the qualifying. According to the main draw, Gasquet is supposed to be playing Mischa Zverev in the first round. Unless you're not talking about Richard Gasquet.

When I Google ''Gasquet matches'' it reads: ''Wed, May 22 Round of 16 Center Court then below it reads ''R. Gasquet''& ''T. Fritz'' below Gasquet's name & the word retired in the upper right, but now looking again at it, there's a small arrow pointing to 'Fritz'', so apparently he ''retired'' instead of Gasquet for that match.

I've just checked and I've just realised you were talking about the Lyon Open and not the French Open qualifying.

Gasquet retired in the 2nd round against Fritz.

Here is the first update from the French Open.

First of all, Fed made his long awaited return to action at Roland Garros by defeating Lorenzo Sonego 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

Marin Cilic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Kei Nishikori, David Goffin, Karolina Pliskova and Sloane Stephens won their matches in straight sets, while Elina Svitolina defeated Venus Williams 6-3, 6-3 and former champion Garbine Muguruza defeated Taylor Townsend 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.

Also in the first upset of the tournament, Anastasia Potapova defeated Angelique Kerber 6-4, 6-2.

So that's the story from Day 1 at Roland Garros. Tomorrow Rafa begins his quest for an unprecedented 12th title, while former champions Nole, Serena Williams and Stan will also be in action along with Caroline, Kiki Bertens, Petra Kvitova, Jo-Wilfried, Dominic Thiem and Frances Tiafoe.

Lastly in the final warm-up events; Sasha Zverev won the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open, Benoit Paire won the Open Parc Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Lyon, Dayana Yastremska won the Internationaux we Strasbourg and Yulia Putintseva won the Nurnberger Versicherungscup 2019.

Thanks for the news and updates.

They actually had tennis on Channel 4 (NBC) today at 12 noon but it was probably because of the holiday. It was also Serena Williams' match which I do not care about so I didn't watch.

Here's an update from the early matches at Roland Garros.

First of all, Sasha Zverev and Delpo had trouble in their matches, but came out victorious with Sasha defeating John Millman 7-6(4), 6-3, 2-6, 6-7(5), 6-3 and Delpo defeating Nicolas Jarry 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4.

Also Fabio Fognini defeated compatriot Andreas Seppi 6-3, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3; Vika defeated former champion Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 7-6(4); Kyle Edmund defeated Jeremy Chardy 7-6(1), 5-7, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 and Taylor Fritz defeated Bernard Tomic 6-1, 6-4, 6-1.

Plus we got a couple of upsets as Karolina Muchova defeated Anett Kontaveit 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 and Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego defeated Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(4).

So that's the story from the early matches at Roland Garros. In one of the matches in progress, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova is leading Naomi Osaka 6-0, 6-5 and has a chance to serve for the match.
