I watched some great tennis today. Well done to Jo Konta. She was awesome against Sloane Stephens. I enjoyed Federer vs Wawrinka and Vondrousova vs Martic. I didn't see much of Nadal vs Nishikori but I assume Nadal was amazing.

He was.

I liked the Federer/Wawrinka match. I wanted Stan to pull it out, but I was not surprised that Roger won.

Semi-finals between Roger and Rafa on Friday! Eeeee!

I wanted Wawrinka to win too. I hope he has a great Wimbledon.

Roger vs Rafa should be very good!

It's a shame there was no tennis today.

I actually had to get some work done at home. The nerve!

Glad tennis is back today. And, some surprises!

There may be more delays tomorrow as rain is expected.

All the matches went pretty fast today. Hopefully they'll be able to get all the matches in tomorrow.

Djokovic played amazingly well against Zverev yesterday (an important 3 sets win) but this is the 2nd tournament in a row that he's getting screwed over by awful scheduling.

The French Open is ridiculous for not getting a roof for centre court, at least. What use is it to have it in 2020? It's still various years gone by where rain has interrupted 99% of matches.

Hoping that Barty goes on to win the whole thing, she's got such great variety in her game.

Wow, Thiem was amazing today.

I hope he wins the final tomorrow.

I'm just about to watch the women's final. I don't know who I want to win.

Here is an update from today's matches at the French Open.

First of all in the women's singles final, Ashleigh Barty routed Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-3.

Great win for Ashleigh, who concluded her great run with an excellent performance today.

With today's victory, she not only captured her first Grand Slam title, but also became the first Australian woman to win the French Open since Margaret Court in 1973 and will rise to #2 in the WTA rankings on Monday.

Meanwhile in the second men's singles semifinal match that was suspended due to rain yesterday, Dominic Thiem defeated Nole 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5.

Good win for Dominic Thiem, who came through a tough battle to advance to the final for the second straight year.

On the other hand, it was a very frustrating day for Nole, who saw his quest for a second Djoker Slam dashed as he lost his poise trying to deal with the windy conditions and some disputed calls from linesman and chair umpire.

Also in the men's doubles final, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies defeated hometown favorites Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin 6-2, 7-6(3) and Latisha Chan and Ivan Dodig upset Gabriela Dabrowski and Mate Pavic 6-1, 7-6(5) to win the mixed doubles title.

So that's the story from Roland Garros.

The French Open concludes tomorrow as Rafa will take on Dominic Thiem in the men's singles final. This is their second straight meeting in the final. Rafa will be looking to capture an unprecedented 12th title, while Dominic Thiem will be looking for his first Grand Slam title.

Thank you for the updates, Rod. Great pics.

Well done to Ashleigh Barty. I love the variety in her game.

It has to be said that Roland Garros is the worst run Grand Slam tournament of the four. Just, awful. No roof and no hawk-eye. The conditions were horrific on Friday and Saturday for the men's semi finals. It completely destroys any ability to be able to watch them comfortably. All of the players just looked distressed.

Anyway, I'm thrilled for Ashleigh Barty

BUT I'm devastated for Novak Djokovic. He was on his way to achieving what no man has done except Rod Laver - winning the Career Slam for the second time.

Did Dominic Thiem beat him? No, the weather did. His mindset during set 1 determined the outcome because his mind was distracted by all the negativity of being unable to adapt to the conditions. I have never been so uncomfortable whilst watching a tennis match in my life. Both Martina Navratilova and Jim Courier said various times that it is ridiculous to be forced to play in UNPLAYABLE conditions.

It wasn't a fair fight, they went off court so many times and the weather robbed them both of playing their best tennis. Nadal and Federer had extremely tough conditions, too, but it clearly got much worse by the time Djokovic and Thiem played.

I really doubt Thiem has much left in the tank to give Nadal much of a game today If I'm wrong, I'll be happy to see it. Last year, the result wasn't even close.

I was thrilled that Thiem beat Novak, and even more ecstatic that Nadal won the championship. So so very happy for him, especially after everything that he has been through lately! 12th FO championship for my absolute favorite! What a freaking accomplishment! Just unmatched and unprecendented.

I felt a little bad for Thiem because I really do like him, he's one of my favorites, and I know that eventually he will win a Grand Slam, most likely the French. He looked sad when he said in his post match interview with John McEnroe, he went from heaven (beating Novak) to hell (losing to Nadal). He will get there one day, though. He definitely has the talent and game for it.

I am glad for Ashleigh Barty on winning her first Grand Slam! Well-deserved. And, I really like her game.

Thanks for the updates and pictures, Rod.

Yes, Rafa was once again triumphant at Roland Garros yesterday.

He really stepped his level of play after losing the second set and looked dominant in the third and fourth sets.

With his victory yesterday, Rafa captured an unprecedented 12th French Open, which is the most by any player at a single Grand Slam, and his 18th Grand Slam title, which is two behind Fed for most Grand Slam titles among the men.

Obviously a disappointing result for Dominic Thiem, who had no answer for Rafa after winning the second set. Still his performance is an improvement from last year.

Also Kristina Mladenovic and Timea Baboos won the women's doubles title.

So that wraps up another edition of the French Open,

which concludes once again with Rafa winning the men's singles title.

The grass court season gets underway this week with the Libema Open in Holland, the MercedesCup in Stuttgart and the Nature Valley Open in Nottingham.

Nikki, Thiem has a lot of talent. He was playing some stunning shots.

Thanks, Rod! I'm looking forward to the grass court season. I hope the current British weather improves. It's so cold and rainy!
