so, tennis season has started and Maria had a good week at the Shenzhen Open where she reached the semi-final

she lost to Siniakova there in 3 sets but it's not bad preparation for AO in less than two weeks

That's great. I was watching her match on New Years but I wasn't able to stay awake for the whole thing. I'm looking forward to how she plays at the Australian Open.

I didn't get a chance to see any of Maria's matches, but i'm pleased with her showing. This is a good way for her to knock the rust off and see where her game is before the Australian Open.

she's going to the AO draw ceremony on Thursday

and she's already been practicing on RLA for a few days now

well..she's got a pretty tough draw ahead of her

could be Sevastova in R2, then Kerber in R3, then Muguruza. oy, I don't even wanna go on

but we'll see what happens when the day comes

I for one am glad that she got to pose with the trophy again cause she didn't get to defend her title in '09 and it was a nice opportunity for her to come to the ceremony

Maria did really good at her opening match

she played some real aggressive tennis and had a straight set victory.
next up is Sevastova which should be a tough one but hopefully she can close it out this time

She did a great job in her opening match. I know her next match will be a tough one. Sevastova beat her at the US Open.

yess, she did great against Sevastova as well

she was untouchable in the first set

the 2nd was closer but she held on and finished it quick

next round is the toughest one yet with former champ Kerber but both will have to bring their A-game
