We didn't have it until I was like 16. I know Michigan isn't exactly "The South" but I still can't remember how we managed without it, since we can hit triple digits and high humidity.

I think the main difference between your part of the country and mine is that you get two extremes of weather - very, very cold and very, very hot. We just get the very, very hot offset by a few months of mildly chilly.

Yeah, we can go from -45 (~-43C) to 110 (~43C).

I think I'll stick with the South. :cold: :sun:

Once we went from -43C - 0C in a less than 24 hour span. And that 0/32F feels TOASTY when you've just come from -45/-43.

I actually love winter and cold weather and snow - but in moderation.

WeBuiltThePyramids 07-05-2019 05:29 PM

I am such a winter person. Not the -40s, but give me 30 degrees and two or three inches of snow and I'm a happy girl. Or even just a light dusting.

Had a family cookout yesterday. It's been a long time since I hosted anything like that. I forgot how tiring it is. I'm dog tired and sort today. But it was a lot of fun. We lucked out and had a few sprinkles just as we were getting the fire started. Didn't cause any real problems, but the clouds cooled things down so we could tolerably sit outside.

I absolutely loathe hosting because you can't leave early you're so tired afterward!

I have always wanted to do all the prep for a party, then when the guests arrive, tell them to enjoy themselves and I'll go straight to bed! :rotfl:

Now THAT is my kind of party.

FoxPhile 07-09-2019 04:31 PM

I used to cater parties as a side business with my boyfriend. One time we actually did get to do that because the host wanted us to make the food, set up everything and then leave before the guests arrived. He didn't say why and we didn't ask.

WeBuiltThePyramids 07-09-2019 05:06 PM

Hey, you get paid AND don't have to deal with people.

Cyclone139 07-10-2019 01:32 PM

I'm not much of a socialiser. I enjoy cooking for other people, but I've usually had enough of their company once the meal is over!
