Felicity is a great character-very easy girl to relate to especially when you're in college and going through similar struggles.
I love, love, love Felicity as a show and as a character. I recently just graduated and Felicity truly got college right. It was so down-to-earth and it really captured what we all go through. Especially since I left my home and went to NYC too for college. She was so giving and I loved her friendships with people. I loved seeing her grow.

Definitely! Glad you feel the writers captured college correctly through Felicity's eyes.

There were times were it was creepily accurate. Like the sophomore slump in S2/my next year. A lot of my friends agreed that sophomore year is the hardest year...it really tests you and you have to get used to your life away from home. There are a lot of changes and a lot of growing up to do. And also, in S4, there is the uncertainty of graduation...I can definitely relate to that.

I need to do my male list...

1. Jess Mariano (Gilmore Girls)
2. Spike (BTVS)
3. Angel (BTVS/Ats)
4. Pacey Witter (Dawson's Creek)
5. Jesse Pinkman (Breaking Bad)
6. Wesley Wydam Pyrce (Angel)
7. Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones)
8. Ben Wyatt (Parks and Recreation)
9. Seth Cohen (The O.C.)
10. Ben Convington (Felicity)
11. Noel Crane (Felicity)
12. Michael Scott (The Office)
13. Jim Halpert (The Office)
14. Stefan Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries)
15. Logan Echolls (Veronica Mars)

I really could go on and on

^Yes, definitely agree on the sophomore slump and the accuracies Felciity portrayed.

That's a great list you have-varied shows. I also find it interesting you listed Angel and Spike and Noel and Ben. A lot of the time people aren't intrigued by the "other" person in a love interest. I find it really interesting you are.

Are we all forgetting Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl? I love that boy with all my heart.

^Dan Humphrey could definitely make the list too! I'm too annoyed at his treatment at the end of the series though.

Yeah People are often surprised by that but BTVS is my favorite show of all time and both characters are spectacular. Both are so well developed, funny, heartfelt, strong, layered. I have a hard time picking between them. And with Ben and Noel, Felicity is another favorite...I appreciate all the characters and what they had to offer. And I can never truly pick between Noel/Felicity and Ben/Felicity. I also ship Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike.

I commend you! As a fan it's hard to stay objective when it comes to couples you ship. It's nice you appreciate the characters for who they are.

Nice thread idea! I'll do my female list first:
1. Buffy Summers (BTVS)
2. Peggy Carter (Agent Carter)
3. Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones)
4. Sydney Bristow (Alias)
5. Claire Fraser (Outlander)
6. Allison Hendrix (Orphan Black)
7. Donna Paulsen (Suits)
8. Mary Crawley (Downton Abbey)
9. Sara Lance (Arrow soon to be on Legends of Tomorrow)
10. Elizabeth Jennings (The Americans)
I mostly like female characters who can kick ass and also because I can relate to some of them and because I also like the actresses who portray them.

Great idea for a thread! Though it's proving extra hard to pick just a list.
  1. Peggy Carter [Agent Carter]
  2. Clarke Griffin/Raven Reyes/Bellamy Blake [The 100]
  3. Cookie Lyon/Jamal Lyon [Empire]
  4. James Gordon/Oswald Cobblepot/Fish Mooney [Gotham]
  5. Veronica Mars [VM]
  6. Rae Earl [My Mad Fat Diary]
  7. Sydney Bristow [Alias]
  8. Mary Crawley [Downton Abbey]
  9. Elizabeth Jennings/Phillip Jennings [Alias]
  10. Dan Humphrey [Gossip Girl]
  11. Emily Thorne aka Amanda Clarke/Nolan Ross [Gossip Girl]
  12. Alison Hendrix [Orphan Black]

I mainly love the fierce ladies especially Peggy and Veronica who show that women can be vulnerable and girly whilst still being totally kickass and fierce at the same time. Rae is such an extra special character to me though, there's no one on her on TV and I truly doubt there'll ever be again and though I was unsatisfied about the show's outcome, I'll always be grateful E4/TPTB took the time to flesh out such an unique character and for overweight people/people facing mental issues to see someone like them being portrayed on TV and being able to relate to her story.

And yes, most of my list comprises female characters because doh girl power. And I lovelove how many strong ladies are being shown on TV now ... it's truly lovely to see.

This is exactly it They're strong characters who are independent and powerful, but that doesn't take away from them being vulnerable, intimate, traditionally feminine, kind, beautiful and loving people. In fact, it adds to their power. It adds to their strength. They're wonderful characters as a whole. They're layered and complex. TV is a wonderful place for women.

Totally agree with you there! I'm glad we are seeing more shows created with females as leads.
