Favorite TV Characters - Which Characters Mean the Most to You?

Thought I would open a thread for some discussion on our favorite characters. This board has a lot of great threads, but I don't believe we've had one on the characters that mean the most to us.

We could do like top 10 favorite characters of all time, top 10 favorite female characters, top 10 favorite male characters. I think it could prompt some great discussion. No bashing of characters though!

I need time to think about my top tens, but I do know my top three - it never changes:

1. Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
2. Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City)
3. Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)

These are the three characters that mean the absolute most to me. They're strong female characters with beautiful journeys. They've been through so much and developed. In my daily life, I think of them and what would they do or how would they react or I wish they were my friend

Very good idea!!! :)

Favourite top 10 female characters
1. Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill) - This has to be my absolute favourite character of all time. Watching Brooke evovle was so amazing!
2. Tara Knowles (Sons of Anarchy)
3. Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City)
4. Lexie Grey (Greys Anatomy)
5. Erin Lindsay (Chicago P.D)
6. Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones)
7. Carol Hathaway (E.R.)
8. Samantha Taggart (E.R.)
9. Malia Tate (Teen Wolf)
10. Caroline Forbes (The Vampire Diaries)

Great list! Brooke is definitely one of my favorite TV characters. And I may be in the minority, but Peyton is definitely in my top ten as well with Brooke. I love them both.

Let me try female right now, just as a draft...

1. Buffy Summers (BTVS)
2. Carrie Bradshaw (SATC)
3. Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
4. Veronica Mars (Veronica Mars)
5. Peyton Sawyer (One Tree Hill)
6. Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill)
7. Rachel Green (Friends)
8. Felicity Porter (Felicity)
9. Christina Yang (Grey's Anatomy)
10. Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation)

I would say this is pretty accurate. Maybe throw in Blair Waldorf or Joey Potter. And even though Outlander is quite new, I love Claire's character.

Thanks for starting this thread! It's great to see which characters you guys have selected. :D

I also find it really interesting that females seem to be dominating the lists.

I'm adding this thread to our guide and will need to start thinking about my favorite characters.

Good lists!

I wanted to add Mulder and Scully to my lists. Amazing characters. Especially Scully. At first I was all into Mulder, but Scully really steals the show for me.

Love the lists guys! :D

I also really like Angel. He's a really complicated character, which I like.

I'm a big fan of Ryan Atwood (The OC) and his development too.

courtneybangelcakes 07-05-2015 06:37 PM

^ Love both of those characters.

Angel is such a layered, complex character. I know some people think of him as boring, but I completely disagree. After watching Angel the series, wow - love his character so much.

  • Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl) - she just means way too much for me to even care what the writers did to her.
  • Spencer Hastings (Pretty Little Liars)
  • Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf)
  • Derek Hale (Teen Wolf) :bawl: His life, man. :bawl:
  • Piper Halliwell (Charmed) - my first!!!
  • Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon)

My favorites are more about who I feel a connection with and how my mind fills in the headcanons than anything the writers try to do.

^Great list! Everyone has different things that attract characters to them. I'm glad you have found ones that you connect with.

Glad you like both characters! :D I definitely agree-Angel is such a complex character. I think the fact that he is essentially two "people" in one-a very evil vampire and a man with a tortured soul make for such an interesting character.

In his tv show, it was great to really delve more into his character.
