The possibility that Klaus could die at the end of The Originals never crossed my mind. That's why I was shaken, sad and angry with that ending for him the first time I watched the series finale, and why it has taken me a long time to accept that it was the only possible ending for him.

^ Right? I will always wonder if TPTB would have written the same ending for Klaus if they hadn't needed to think about the next chapter of the Vampire Diaries story, i.e. Legacies. Part of me thinks that TPTB wrote that ending for Klaus because they didn't want fans bugging them about having him appear on Legacies.
 That fan is so right! Joseph really did crush that scene.    I love the fun fact he gave us.   __________________

I would have loved if TPTB had given us more of Klaus' history, especially his dynamic with his parents.

^ I agree. If TPTB had dedicated some screen-time to exploring Klaus' dynamic with Esther, Mikael and even Ansel, we would have learned so much more about Klaus as a character.
It's disappointing that TPTB didn't think to fill in some of the blanks, and that we have to come up with our own history for him.  __________________

^ Exactly. Since TPTB didn't show/tell us otherwise, I think Klaus' human years were 95 percent miserable because Mikael was abusive and Esther was indifferent when Klaus was growing up.

Considering the fact that Mikael and Esther weren't warm or nurturing toward Klaus, it's no wonder he was so screwed-up.
