That exchange would have been great to witness

I think we'd have more merged groups and sort of like mix and matching

Had they known they wouldn't be as short-lived as they were, the writers could have prolonged keeping Jake's secret from Hami. Maybe a situation where they would be forced to kiss publicly like a stage-play. He'd be like initially reluctant, but then he'll really get into it because he got carried away by the "heat of the moment".

Yes I agree, I think since they knew they would probobly only have the 8 episodes they had to fit everything in, if they had the potential of a second season they would have taken their time releaving Jakes secret. It would have been fun to see Ham's reaction to thinking he was gay some more.

^Totally. Jake and Ham's storyline was way too rushed. But since we only got 8 episodes, I am glad they rushed it or we wouldn't have had all those wonderful Jahammer scenes.

I completely agree. If we'd at least had a season of 20 episodes, I'm sure they would've waited until at least half the season was over to let Ham find out.

Yeah for someone who was so scared of ruining his reputation Hamilton sure threw caution to the wind quickly and decided he was gay

I was watching it again today and saw Hami's reaction when Jake said, "I think I'm gonna skip it" talking about the cotillion. It was priceless. It was a combination of disappointment and confusion and "Is it me you're talking about?". So yes it would've been fun seeing Hami confused about himself some more.

I also loved it when Hami pounced on Jake in the bathroom during the cotillion. It was by no means a shy kiss. I'm guessing the "wind" he threw caution to was gale-force because that kiss was the kind that would sit you on your a--.

Another way they could've improved YA -- if they made Jake and Hami's story the lead. This series was actually supposed to have been Will's story as a poor boy in a ridiculously rich school. But his was upstaged by the other stories especially Jake's. There have been many gender-bender stories that made it big -- Shakespeare even had 2.

I love to see Ham suffer. I think, in the hypothetical scenario that the show was ubersuccessful, and within weeks had already been renewed for a second season, they might've even been mean enough to have the moment when Jake reveals her secret to Ham as a cliffhanger in the season one finale. How mean would that have been?

I think if the show had continued the J/H story would've definitely become more important. It's a shame it started out as the "less important" story.

Ooooohhh totally!!!! And not just mean to Ham but also to the rest of US! I'd probably be pulling my hair out before the end credits finish rolling.

Totally! I think YA would have stayed on the air longer if they had put Jake and Hamilton's storyline as the main one. It was way more original and intriguing then the Bella/Will/Scout saga.

The supporting characters normally become the more important once, and I normally find the main character the most boring in most shows, shows how much the producers know about what people want

oh my, that as a cliffhanger would have been awful imagine if they had cancelled the show after a cliffhanger like that, would we still be discussing Hamiltons reaction now?

Oh God, I don't even want to imagine that! That would've been awful.

I don't think I ever would have recovered from a blow like that! We would never have seen all those great Jahammer kisses and snuggles.

Without Jake and Ham I never would have taken an interest to the show. And to be honest if we had never seen them get together, I am not I would have stayed a fan for so many years.
