Is there a plan?

Usually, I've been pretty good about following along Rumple's character, but this one has me completely baffled.

Is he trying to save his marriage? His relationship with his son? Neither, and only himself? I honestly don't know.

This is how I see it in my head. I could be 100% wrong, but I am hanging on to this until proven wrong. He has NO romantic or sexual interest in EQ. She isn't even a driveby. (Would that be an enemies with benefits?) He is stringing her along in order to find out her plans. I think he is going to try and be the hero Belle wants him to be. After he defeats the EQ, he will make Regina whole and use the shears on himself. By cutting away the evil, it will manifest as its own person and this is what Emma is seeing in her vision. I don't think getting stabbed is the same as dying. I think it will be Rumple who kills his evil self and saves Emma, thereby WINNING Belle and Rumpette 's hearts.

I doubt Rumple's trying to be a hero, honestly. I think he is done trying to be something Belle wants him to be, and she's not the only one who's angry.. I think their son is Rumple's priority now. I think Rumple knows something about the baby's/their family's future that the audience doesn't know yet (because it's an untold story

) and he wants to stop it from happening, hence why he wants the shears. Also, the Dark One can't resist making a deal.

I could see him wanting to keep the EQ close in order to keep an eye on her and to find out her plans, though, since she proved in episode 4 that he can't trust her promise to not hurt Belle and the baby. As the saying goes, "keep your enemies close".

I agree, I think it looks good and it does make him look younger (I'm pretty sure he's lost weight, anyway, so I don't know that it's the haircut making him look thinner), but I also think it makes him look much more sinister.
