I don't know who to be mad at more for the missed opportunity that is Gale and Madge, Suzanne or the filmmakers. I have yet to find/read a fan fiction that focuses solely on them, based in canon universe. I don't particularly like any fan fiction that is AU. I struggle to envision characters when the setting is "off".

When I'm reading fanfic, I don't pic Liam as Gale and same w/ other actresses/actors who play in characters in books/fanfic bec I have my own imagine of characters when I read even tho I don't need "evidence" that the movies told us that it's them..

I mean canon in terms of the books. AU just takes me out of the story because I'm much more familiar with the characters as I read them and prefer their personalities not change while reading fan fiction. I have read some AU where it felt like the characters were completely different people from the ones I read, that there's no connection at all, so it's soured my enjoyment of fan fiction. It's not really about the actors since the movies have put their own spin to the story.
