^I understand what you mean, there are allot of fics I never finished because they started out having the voice of the characters but then trailed off to becoming others... It's hard to follow.

Yeah plus it seems that back then there were lot of amazing fic writers, but now, it just not the same.. Plus I don't feel exciting or wanting know what happen unlike back then.. Sigh..

for me it's more focused on the film adaptions then the books themselves.

^ For me, it was more the books than the films.. I just can't read the fics that came from the movie adaptions..

Films themselves are sanctioned fan fiction because there's no rule that says you must adapt the books verbatim. Directors/producers and even writers have their own vision of how the story should be told, that's why a lot of (nuanced) stuff is cut out because it may not feel "right" to those making the films. And they sometime add their own stuff, (as written in the original THG script that was completely scrapped because it was a completely different version to the book). So it's very possible to end up with two very different Katnisses, book vs film.

I prefer the original source material to be the basis for fan fiction, anything short of that you may as well write your own story with your own original characters, whose voice you won't fudge in order to get the end result you want.
