I like to count the days...

I'm probably also counting because I'll be on holiday in less than 2-weeks now

Why is it so hard for people to stay home & follow health orders? Sydney is a mess. Saw a thing on FB today 'The virus doesn't move, people move it. We stop moving, the virus dies. Its that simple'. While it may not quite be accurate I really wish people realised that & did the right thing. They're looking at extending their lockdown again because they can't contain it. Its being recommended that they now go to masks outdoors too. Surprised really they hadn't already done that tbh. Hopefully they do do that & that helps.
Sorry, mini-rant over.

Hope your parents had a nice time away Hanna

Chelle

They did, and they're already looking forward to the next holiday...

My day was exhausting, but hopefully tomorrow will be actually better... 3 more days to go...

I can understand why you are counting down the days because of your upcoming holiday Hanna!

I am sorry Sydney is such a mess Chelle. It is a shame they couldn't get the vaccine figured out there before this strain hit.
It is getting bad again here as well.

Sorry your day was exhausting Hanna.

Hope your Wednesday is better Hanna

I don't even know that the vaccine would've helped since you can still get the Delta Strain even with the vaccination . Not entirely Australia's fault that we couldn't get it figured out. But we've also got idiots who don't want to follow rules of mask wearing let alone get the vaccine. So those people aren't helping either.

Sorry to hear it is getting bad there too Steph

That is true Chelle, but I think it would have helped somewhat. By what I have been hearing is the breakthrough cases aren't as bad at least. I guess we really don't know for sure though because who knows who is telling the truth anymore. I know in our area one of the local news stations did an interview at a hospital with a nurse about the spike in cases and they said like 90% of the cases are unvaccinated people and 100% of the ones in ICU are unvaccinated people. And the amount of people are what they had over 6 months ago when we were in the last spike. I have started wearing a mask again when I go into certain places.

Yes the idiots are everywhere that refuse to stay put if they are sick and they do not help at all. I have started wearing a mask again when I go into certain places because of this.

Oh, no today was messy too... Maybe tomorrow will be less crazy... Either way I know that I won't be working on the 6th August... There's no way that I'm pulling another 40h-week with the 36h contract... 3 weeks in a row was more than enough...

The vaccine definitely helps... It keeps even the Delta cases at bay, less people end up in the ICU wings... I wasn't aware that the US is once again getting worse as well... NL is doing okay, and Europe is kind of alright too... At least travelling within the 'bubble" is allowed...

Chelle, hopefully things will get under control quickly over there... And yes, people are idiots... But that's nothing new...

Maybe, I don't know. I think there's a lot of idiots so it still would be a mess. There's fears of a second protest against the lockdowns & restrictions in Sydney .
Now they are also taking away some of the vaccine to give to seniors in high school in Sydney so they can safely sit the final exams in October/November without risking spreading it . I understand why they're doing it but doesn't seem fair. Especially when under 18s weren't a part of a recommended group to be vaccinated.

Don't blame you for wearing a mask Not worth the risk

Good luck not working the 40 hour week again

Sorry to hear your day yesterday was just as bad Hanna. You and me are having about the same type of week it sounds like I don't blame you for not wanting to do over your hours again next week!

Oh yeah, it is getting really bad again over here. FL was number one with new cases and some places are seeing numbers again that they haven't seen since January. It is sad. Some states have gone back to requiring masks indoors again I believe. It is crazy it is happening again.
It is good things aren't that bad over there Hanna. Hopefully people will take caution not to spread it.

That doesn't sound right they took vaccines away from some to give to seniors in high school. How did they do it last time when they had to take the tests and there were no vaccines? That is how they should have done it this time.

I think that last time Australia wasn't worried about the virus that much, as they didn't really have new cases... What happens in Australia right now somewhat sounds like what went down in Europe last year... But hopefully it won't get that bad...

Steph, I'm sorry to hear that the cases are once again soaring over there We have 5k cases per day, but we only have a few ICU cases... And I'm getting vaccinated on Sunday as well... The 2nd shot, yay... Hopefully I won't have any muscle pain afterwards...

Today wasn't as bad, finally... My part-timer colleague was still super busy, but we're still on top of everything... Even though we're doing 2.5 man's job each

NSW/Sydney was ok last year . The cases never reached all that high & we were doing school as normal then. Even Victoria which was bad last year around then still was able to go ahead without vaccinations. But each state leader is doing whatever they want when it comes to covid. They're doing what they feel is best for their state, regardless of what the other states are doing or may have done (or think about what they're doing ). "Australia" has very much been 8 different state/territories during 2020/2021 not a whole country, but we've also been fortunate that we could do that. Each state has had their own experiences when it comes to covid, but we've also been very lucky when it comes to covid. The main state which has been hit is Victoria - they've on lockdown #5 now. Their case numbers were really bad last year (for us). But across all the states/territories we've had moments of recording 0 cases, then you get one idiot & the state records a case again. But now Sydney is getting hit bad too.

Australia's had a total of 33,732 cases - 20939 are from Victoria, 8531 are from NSW. Queensland is just under 2000, Western Australia is just over 1000, South Australia is just under 1000, then the other states are around 120-240. Its nothing compared to other countries. Sydney/NSW is amazing it hasn't been worse as we've been taking in most of the overseas travelers/returning Australians. But that is also how we got into this Delta mess. That & people don't listen. We probably are like other countries at the start of this right now which is so stupid that we can't learn from other countries. Or even learn from things that happened within our own. We should all know by now how it spreads due to what happened in other countries but instead people just are careless.

But I also think the state leader for my state is being too lenient with her restrictions. The Delta strain was found & she just lockdown the Greater Sydney area. Meanwhile back in December when there were cases in one area of Sydney just before Christmas only those areas got locked down. There was all varying levels of lockdown across Sydney then. Now it has taken time to get to that stage. It should've been that way from the start. Then maybe it wouldn't have spread so much through Sydney.

I'll shut up now

On another note I need to find a way to speak to a doctor to see which vaccination is better for me to have to try get mine done

for vaccination #2. Hope it doesn't cause any muscle pain or anything. That's really good about the ICU cases too

Crazy you're doing so much work

I've got a headache (& yet despite that I still babbled quite a bit in this post )

Chelle Sometimes we all need to ramble... I actually don't mind, at least it gives perspective on how Australia is not handling the virus... The Sydney area reminds me of how cases got out from Milan/N-Italy back early 2020 & also from London, during the infamous UK-variant back in April 2021, maybe...

I would recommend Pfizer, that's probably the safest one... But it's always worth to speak with a specialist!

Weekend... Finally... And also happy almost birthday to me

It is what it is! At least I can save quite a lot of money...

But me having a day off on next Friday is now set in stone... My manager will just have to survive a day alone... We managed a full week quite well without the full-timers at the office, so he'll survive a day & a full week without us

Yay for your second shot, Hanna! Hopefully you have no side affects from it.

Good idea to speak to your doctor Chelle about which one would be best for you.

Sorry for not posting much, in a bit of a rush today unfortunately.
