Have you seen him in anything else?

I found this the other day:

Quote:
Actor takes nothing for granted in NCIS: New Orleans

In 1989, when Scott Bakula was a struggling actor and was cast in the hit series Quantum Leap – which ran for five seasons – he imagined he had starred in the biggest show of his career. In 2001, along came his role as Captain Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise which gave him another burst of fame. Now at 63, Bakula is once again enjoying a third chapter of success in NCIS: New Orleans, in which he plays NCIS boss Dwayne Pride. The show is in its fourth season and the down-to-earth actor talks to Jenny Cooney Carrillo about juggling the New Orleans shoot with his Los Angeles home and family life.

How does it feel to have such success with NCIS: New Orleans?

I always try to tell people, 'Don't take anything for granted'. Our business is so crazy and I pinch myself – certainly at my age – to be in a show like this and to have this opportunity and this response from my work again. It's very rare.

When we first met Dwayne, he was married and seemed like a light character. What happened?

We got rid of that didn't we? (laughs) Well at the end of last season, he did go off the deep end and he was under a very watchful eye from Washington DC. There was a struggle to get him some mental help so he could balance his journey a little bit better, and that continues this season. Pride makes a serious commitment to trying to do the by-the-book thing as best he can and still do what he feels is right. He's wrestling with his demons, but he's trying hard to put that all behind him.

How much of you has bled into your NCIS character Pride and how much has he influenced you?

Pride has a very on-the-surface passion and joy when confronted with problems we see in the show. He may not always look joyous, or happy, but his love of music and food and appreciation of people is very much in line with me, so I feel we're similar in that regards. There's also a little darkness to Dwayne Pride that I am relieved to say I don't really carry with me at all.

(Can someone add me as a fan?) I like his character from day one. He fits the role of being the leader of NOLA, and luckily he has a different character than Gibbs or Hetty have.

Though sometimes it's hard to tolerate his pigheadedness and his needs to always take control of a situation, instead of letting the team handle it.

I've never seen Quantum Leap, or at least I can recall it... But Scott seems to be a great actor.
