There's this second job that I really want myself but it probably won't work out...It's a research assistant position for a psychological study, which would be amazing experience that looks brilliant on a grad school resume. But it requires ten hours of commitment per week and I just don't think I'll be able to do that with my current schedule of 5 courses and almost 20hrs devoted to work and volunteering >.<

I'm not particularly smart when it comes to academics so I really need my weekends to catch up on studying.

I sure hope that another opportunity like this will come up next year before I start my grad school applications

There was an earthquake last night, and weirdly I thought that it might be 'funny' to have a small one like that during a taping. I bet the cast would make jokes about it ; although, the security would freak out, so maybe not a good idea.

Did you feel the earthquake? I was asleep when it happened, but I dunno if it was big enough to feel here even if I was awake.

Just a small earthquake during a taping would probably just lead to jokes, yeah. I wonder how big it would have to be to actually disrupt the taping.... We generally do just shrug off the smaller ones.

And as an update, my mom's recovering at home! They had to remove part of her collar bone, so it'll be a while until full recovery, but she's making progress.

It has been a long, hot weekend. And I'm just exacerbating the sweating issue by jumping on the exercise bike after work.

It's actually been a bit cooler here than it had been recently, which has been nice.

We are only upper 80s, low 90s, which obviously that isn't hotter than we get in the summer, but normally this time of year we are in the 60s during the day. Heat came Thursday and won't break until Wednesday. This is horrible for our apple crop.

Oh my goodness! 30 hours working plus 5 classes would be tough! Couldn't you leave one of your other jobs if this one would be better experience?

I'm teaching, have an RA job and will be starting writing tutoring this week, alongside my full time class schedule. I hope I can cope!! It's probably fortunate that I'm not legally allowed to work more than 20 hours a week.

And there was a small earthquake in the LA area last week - around 11pm I think?

Though speaking of hearing it coming - that's happened to me once. I was really confused as to what I was hearing for a second or two, and then started to feel it. It wasn't strong enough to knock anything over, but it still lasted long enough that I was just starting to wonder if I should be concerned - and then it ended.

Ha! Wow! I shouldn't tempt fate, but I haven't felt a single earthquake since I've been here. But I know the San Andreas is overdue for the big one.
