So after all this time of fires ravaging the Los Angeles area, the Lilac Fire popped up in the San Diego area yesterday and took over faaast. San Luis Rey Training Center has been almost completely destroyed, and for a while no vans were able to get in to evacuate the ~450 horses at that track. Grooms and trainers stayed behind rather than evacuating themselves and turned the horses loose so at least they could run off. About 40, by estimation, were either unable to get out of their stalls or died of injury from running or from smoke inhalation. It took the better part of 8 hours to evacuate the ones that were able to make it, and people are STILL trying to locate their horses and find out if they're among the living or are one of the unlucky ones.

The fires are so big and fast, it's scary. So many houses destroyed, homeless families, lost pets. And wild animals killed of course.
I hope the horses will be found.

It's been nuts.

I had texted Roxanne on Thursday that we were getting snow here on Saturday (today) and she was like "yeah we will probably be still on fire."

Today I am dealing with a wrenched ankle, 6 inches of snow that wasn't here this morning, a screaming teething baby, and a cat that keeps puking. I'll just let you all be jealous of me for a minute.

Tonight is a night where I just curl up and bawl over my financial situation. -_-

My medical problems severely limit my work, and yet I don't qualify for any government assistance. And today, my bills auto-pay, which always leaves me looking at the miniscule amount left in my account and wishing I was skinny enough to strip.

As someone who is out of work temporarily because my employer doesn't want someone with a broken finger working in the kitchen who has a two pound lift limit on my left hand. I can relate to some extent. 😢 My short term disability insurance short changed me & my accident insurance rejected my claim. On top of all that I have a $3000 deductible plus the cost of surgery on my broken left pinky that I'll be paying for the next few years. 😢

Have you talked to a church that might be able to help pay with bills? I recently found out about one from word of mouth. They said they'd help me for 1 months worth of rent. If I eventually paid back $100 by the end of next year. It's not everything but any little bit can help some times.
