I'm around, just not much time to read/post lately. I was trying to reread Winter's Heart, but I got distracted from it a while ago, so haven't had a chance to finish it up.

Hey, Anla!

Have we cast Liandrin yet? I've finally got her -- Katie Heigl. And if we've decided on her for that role already, then I guess it really is a good choice.

Oh, and I'm not that far yet in my rereading, but I just realized that Liandrin was there, at some point at least, before the Verin-tells-Rand-that-Moiraine-sent-her scene. So, could Liandrin somehow have been responsible for that confusion? And, if so, why?

I wonder about that whole thing with Verin. Actually, I just wonder about Verin. I'm looking forward to finding out what's really going on with her. I don't think that she's evil, but there's definitely something going on.

Maybe when Moiraine comes back, things will get straightened out and explained (I'm still hoping! ).

Hey! I think that as a Brown, I should resent that.

Or are you Brown, too? Blue? Brown with Blue tendencies?

Oh, and it really is amazing what you notice on your, like, third (fourth?) time through.

Lord Luc is Tigraine's brother?

And whatever happened to the "by" in "Message edited by (PepperjackCandy)"?

Guess they're trying to save space by using telegraphic speech. I never even noticed that until you pointed it out.

Yep, Lord Luc is Rand's uncle. But with the spirit of Lan's cousin, I think it is? Been a while since I've read those earlier books. I expect there will be an interesting meeting at some point, either between him and Rand, or him and Lan. Hey, maybe he'll run into them both. Either way, Slayer's going to have to be dealt with.

And yeah, I'm a Brown too. Still, there's something going on with Verin.

I just used Robert Jordan as an example in class. We were talking about alternative names for authors -- pseudonyms, etc., and since RJ has both pseudonyms *and* etc., he was a good choice. 8-)

No huge bolts from the blue on today's reread, I don't think. Maybe on the way home.

Um, casting thoughts, though. You should like my first one, Anla:

Peter Jurasik for Bayle Domon. The narrator on the cd I'm listening to gives Domon an accent almost identical to PJ's Londo accent.

And I know I proposed Tom Welling for Rand once, but today I was struck by inspiration:

:contemplates manip of TW as all three ta'veren:

Well, I'm in favor of seeing the Babylon 5 actors again in almost anything. Can you think of anything for Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar) to do? It would need to be a character with a very noticeable voice. Love G'Kar's voice.

I can picture Tom Welling as Perrin more easily than Rand. I don't know - I don't think I've seen anyone who really meets my mental image of Rand.

Thought you'd like that.

Not so far. But then, I've only seen him out of makeup a couple of times.

I'm also liking Mira Furlan as Moiraine more and more.

Well, I'm shopping for costumes for the boys at the moment.

Maybe once you see the manip you'll change your mind.

Or maybe not.

ETA: That was weird. Apparently when I used the one-word term for middle ages (you know, the one that starts out "medi . . ."), the stupid message board thought I was trying to use a forbidden html tag.

Yep. You should see how excited I get when any of the Babylon 5/Crusade actors turn up on another show. It was the actor playing Marcus being in an episode of "Charmed" that got me to make a point of watching the show that week (leading to a few seasons of Charmed viewing ), and then there was Mathison from Crusade being on "Angel".

I'm not completely sure I'd even recognize him out of his G'Kar make-up. But his voice is what's so recognizable to me. I love G'Kar's voice.

She's the only casting for WoT that I really hold to. She's totally how I imagine Moiraine (only without Delenn's Minbari make-up ).

Maybe. I'm certainly willing to keep an open mind.

All right. I've been working on the manip, which has changed into an lj icon (I can make it into a *small* one-frame manip, though, don't worry). However, I have text on both Perrin and Rand (Goldeneyes and Dragon, respectively), but none for Mat.

What label should I put on Mat's? Other then, just "Mat," I mean?

The source of the Verin/Moiraine contradiction is definitely Liandrin. All three disappeared from the Aes Sedais' return to Tar Valon the same night.

Why would Liandrin want Verin to accompany the boys? Maybe because she wanted to "out" Rand and get him gentled?

Why would Verin believe a message from Liandrin that Moiraine wanted her to go?

a. Liandrin can compel people (like with Agelmar's sister, whose name eludes me for the moment); or

b. Verin, knowing that Rand's the DR, wanted to go, so she allowed herself to grab the excuse to go.

And wouldn't it be funny if our universe's Lanfear hadn't escaped yet. Another universe's Lanfear had trapped her own universe's Rand with the portal stone, but messed up somehow following him (maybe focusing on the real DR, rather than her universe's version) and ended up in the universe to which our Rand had accidentally sent himself. So, after Rand brought them all back to his/our universe, that universe actually ended up with two Lanfears?

So? What do you think?

(the only manipping of TW's actual picture that I did was to change the color of his clothes and to "brighten up" the color of his eyes a bit)
