Recently finished the first, and sticking to my original opinion... not the best book ever written. (and the twilight similarities are endless) and I am sick of the words 'my inner godess' EL James must have used that phrase at least a 1000 times in the first book alone.... but on the other hand it was very addictive and i found myself reading on.

just bought the second and third book. started them straight away... and I'm only on page 6 and the twilight rip off continues (won't say what it is for those who haven't read) how has stephanie meyer not thrown a bitch fit yet??? but again I shake my head and will continue to read on.

As far as Christian goes I don't find myself swooning at the thought of him... I love a good bad boy as much as the next woman but this is one seriously messed up dude...

Not a twilight fan here at all. I will jut stick with the 50 shades trilogy and the true blood books are pretty good too, and the secret circle, lying game, and pretty little liars books.

No thanks to twilight

Recently I just finished the trilogy I liked the books but it's not something I would probably read again kind of interested in how they are going to actually makes these books into movies.

Yeah I think that's the big question most readers of the series have.

I noticed the "inner goddess" stuff even more in the second and third books, so I hope it doesn't drive you too nuts as you begin reading those!

The Twilight similarities really started bothering me too - and again, I noticed them more in the second and third books.

Even though the books kept me entertained, I have a hard time recommending them to others simply because they are based on fanfiction which was based on another book - I find it so wrong that the author was allowed to basically change the names and take out any references to vampires, and publish the story. Add to that the fact that they're poorly written and it really is irritating.

Some interesting article about Christian Grey casting - pretty much what we suggest here too with also good addition like Henry Cavill that Stephanie Meyer used as Edward inspiration - he's bit too old for Edward back then but fit with Christian age now

Quote:
There's no word on when the movie version might get underway, but that hasn't stopped people from moving on to the next logical step when it comes to film adaptations of wildly popular novels: speculating on the casting. Particularly, who should play the role of wealthy, dominating 27-year-old Christian Grey.

We know Grey is young and insanely good looking. He's tall, dresses well, and looks extra awesome in a pair of jeans. And, of course, he's got those "blazing grey eyes" that Anastasia mentions about a kajillion times.

So who fits the bill? Check out this list of hunky, smoldering suggestions:

Robert Pattinson. Honestly, I'm just getting this one out of the way because I know some of you will kill me if I don't mention R-Patz. However, I don't think there's a chance in hell he'll be down for playing Edward Cullen yet again, even a porny, non-sparkly version.

Ian Somerhalder. This Vampire Diaries star was pretty eager to throw his hat in the ring, telling Ryan Seacrest that "I absolutely would be up for that. It could be amazing. It could be very, very amazing."

Chris Pine. He's for sure got the eyes for it, and he recently said that the movie "would be a hell of a choice for me, I think. It sounds like an interesting film.”

Zac Efron. I know he's all grown up and looking magically delicious these days, but I'm thinking he's still just a smidge too close to his High School Musical past.

Ryan Gosling. Um, yes please. Especially if the studio actually has the balls to make the film version even half as dirty as the book instead of turning it into an insipid rom-com.

Henry Cavill. This dude from The Tudors/Immortals is probably going to be red-hot in 2013, thanks to his Superman role.

Wes Bentley. Kind of a dark horse, but after seeing him in Hunger Games, I think he's got the chops for it. (HA GET IT CHOPS?)

Christan Bale. Too old for the character, I know. But you guys, Christian Grey is totally Christian Bale from American Psycho

It's cool to have some more ideas for actors

I really hope Zac Efron isn't a serious option - he's just way too young and, agreeing with the above, not quite separated enough from HSL

I think my favorites are Henry Cavill and Wes Bentley (happy to see him on there!)

I still have no ideas for Anastasia - Kristin Stewart drove me crazy as Bella, so I just hope I like whoever they choose for Anastasia a bit better than her...

I personally hope they go with someone older, like Somerhalder because I've just never bought this whole 27 yr old billionaire. In my head he's always looked more like early 30's or something.

I've heard the waiting lists are so long.

Still reading the third one, to be honest I'm getting a little bored with it.

Yeah, I started to feel that way with the third one as well. I kind of started skimming

All of my friends are now reading it, which I find funny because when I first read it I didn't tell anyone b/c I was worried they'd think I was weird
