^ That's true. I had a feeling that they would be formidable 'opponents'. I had wanted to see them come meet from very early on in the series, but what came about when they finally did meet was so much better than I imagined.

^ is right. Shawn's experiences shaped him so much so that he was able to pick up that Maya was on the same path that he had to travel. I love that he didn't want her to feel the way he felt, so he stepped in and became the stabilizing figure that she needed.

& it really showed how much he had grown, he was worried that he was gonna be like Chet, but he had way too big a heart for that

^ Oh, for sure. I think Shawn tried his best to make sure Maya didn't feel the way he felt when he was her age, so he pushed down any worries he had so that he could be there for her.

I think he did too, but even if he wasn't aware of all that, it would have been instincts anyway

^ I think so too. He had lived through so much hardship growing up, so when he looked at her and saw that she was on the same road, he was determined to make sure he would be a great, positive influence on her.

Oh, that's a fact. I think they knew that they would be in each other's orbit because of their connections to the Matthews family, but I don't think they considered the possibility that they would form a strong bond themselves.

^ Yeah. Shawn has always been good at getting girls to see that they should take a chance on him. There was little chance that Maya was going to be able to resist Shawn's ability to show his good side. Maya was definitely fighting a losing battle. =p
