RCA would definitely not go for a Big Band album. I think they would be at a loss as to what to do with it. I'm still surprised they allowed Christina Aguilera to do something like that.

A smaller label would be totally up for it though.

Christina's wasn't really a big band album... Not in the more classic sense. It was still very poppy. That's probably why she got away with it.

I would be very excited to hear a big band album from Kelly, but I bet it wouldn't be a huge seller (not that the market isn't out there, see Michael Buble) unless promotion was done really well. I agree that RCA wouldn't know what to do with it.

Definitely don't see RCA letting Kelly do that. I just want her happy.

Same here, I want her to be happy. Whatever she does next, or wherever she goes next in terms of record companies, I just hope it has people who care about her happiness as well.

did anyone detect a hint of what may come in kelly's recent quote about how there are no janis joplin or springsteen in music anymore and that if there are they ain't on any major record labels?

I did get the impression that if Kelly ever leaves RCA once her contract is up that she might do something along those lines - be an independent artist and not necessarily distribute her music through a record label. What she said recently defionitely gave me the impression that she is considering that.

If she leaves RCA I can't see her going to another big record label, I could see her on an independent label or even her own or friends.

Can you imaine if the band set up a record label with Jimmy at the helm and the first signed artists as Kelly & Jill&Kate ??

Same here. I could see her go to an independent one though, if they offered her the freedom she deserves.

She is deffo one of those artists who I honestly believe will continue to sell records for decades, I believe she has a solid enough fan base who love her own style, My December has to be an example, yes there were a few who purchased it hoping to find Breakaway pt 2 but a lot really appreciated the "realness" of it and that's what I hope we're going to get when Kelly's older and no longer seen as a "pop icon". I'd be happy to see her settle as a "serious artist" she might not have as much sucsess with singles but I think her albums would do really well.

I agree. I'm excited to see how her career goes as the years and decades go on because I also believe she will be around for a long time. She has the drive and determination and we know she'll only put up with so much crap from the record label, so we could end up with some amazing stuff once her contract with RCA is up.

agree with everything you guys said. She definitely won't be going to another big record label. I think she's done with the restraints that those big labels bring. Kelly became what she is today because of her drive, her determination, and her passion. She'll be able to do anything she wants.

I agree with everything you guys have said. I definitely think Kelly has a strong and loyal enough fan base to sell records even if she's not with a major label. She'll still do very well without RCA.

I want to say it's a 10 year contract.. . So in 2012? I could very well be wrong though.

Maybe it's not years but albums? (at least it usually is over here) 5 is a nice round number i fit is, that means just one more album she's contracted for.
