rca has been twitterng all day about kelly today. they even called her "our beloved kelly clarkson". it's almost like they're laying it on thick, but it's still nice.

hmm I'm finally getting all caught up about this RCA / AG video drama. Very interesting if all of this is true. I can't decide my feelings on it.

I'm glad they issued that statement showing their support for her but I still think she'd be better off with a different record company. I wouldn't mind if she signed with a smaller one, as long as she's making music she loves and we can still purchase it.

Kelly on a smaller label = more albums like My December and while I love her variation MD is by far my fave complete album.

I saw those tweets earlier today too. It does feel like they're overdoing it a little, but hey, I'm just glad they're showing some support.

That is so true. Isn't she basically stuck with them for at least one more album? I read somewhere that she was contractually obligated to 5 CDs. Maybe that's complete bull though...

I remember that rumor, but I don't know if it ever got confirmed. It would be interesting to know for sure...

I certainly hope she wouldn't with everything she's gone through. I was really feeling like RCA was in her corner after all the MD/Clive stuff was put in the past, but it just seems drama keeps popping up.

I hope that when the time comes to re-sign that she tells them straight up "My way or the highway" and have clauses in the contract that give her full control.

If she does choose to stay with the that is.

With all the drama that's been happening the last couple of years (which I'm sure a lot of it we don't even know about), I would hope she would choose to sign with another company once her contract is up.

i really think that the drama right now is mostly in the media. kelly hasn't seemed unhappy lately. but i agree she needs to switch labels. she needs a label that will give her a little bit more freedom and respect.

I was listening to an old interview with Madonna and Alanis Morissette (from a couple of years back) where Madonna was discussing Alanis' music and such. I think, if I'm not mistaken, that Alanis used to be (or still is) on Madonna's label, Maverick. Anyway, in the interview they were discussing the fact that Alanis had taken a long break after Jagged Little Pill and if it was going to affect her new music, and Madonna said something that I've always loved. She said, "If Alanis came to me and said she'd decided to do some Polka music next, I would totally let her." Not verbatim, but to that effect.

That's the kind of label I'd want for Kelly. A place where they back her up because of her talent, not because of how much money she can make them.

I couldn't agree more. Can you imagine some of the cool music and stuff we would get from her then? She mentioned wanting to do a big band type album, but even mentioned that she didn't think her label would go for it.
