They were probably hoping to keep it in till S6 final or maybe during renewal.

Who knows.

Yeah. That's how they should pitch it to Mark. "No one's ever done it before." And then add "precedent," "innovative" and "trend setter" to it somewhere. He'd be all over that. I'd honestly prefer some idiocy like that to them killing Lucas or him running off to find himself or whatever they'd do.

I remember on Three's Company when Suzanne Somers left, they just had her character be on the phone with Jack and Janet. I think they did that until they got another actress to replace her and she ended being Chrissy's cousin. Her character was also very ditzy just like Chrissy was.

So it has been done before even though OTH and Three's Company are two completely different shows, lol.

Hopefully they take the hint and cancel this trainwreck. The ratings they're getting now are because everyone is still there, they can't honestly think the ratings will be comparable without its "biggest star" next season.
