Flashback A child is getting beaten up and a young Jack defends the child and gets beaten up himself. On the island Charlie alerts Jack to someone who is drowning in the sea. Charlie says that he doesn't swim.  Jack swims out to save Boone. It turns out that Boone was trying to save a woman who had gone out there to swim. She drowns. Jack feels bad that he didn't manage to save her. Jack sees a man in a suit standing in the sea. Then he disappears.  Kate thinks that Jack needs sleep.Walt is cleaning his teeth and Michael is getting fed up with being a dad.  Sun is watching Michael. Sun doesn't think that anyone is coming to rescue them. She wants to socialise but Jin says that he can look after her himself. Sawyer won't give Shannon some sun cream for free. Kate and Claire bond over sorting out the passengers' clothes. Hurley tells Jack that the water supply is low. Jack doesn't want to make any decisions about that. Flashback Child Jack tells his dad, Christian, about the fight. Christian says that he has what it takes to cope in a crisis but that Jack doesn't. Christian is drinking alcohol while saying that.  On the island Boone is angry at Jack for saving him. Boone thinks that he could have saved the woman. Jack sees the man in the suit and runs after him. Jack catches up with him and he turns out to be Christian.  Christian walks away from Jack.Flashback Jack's mother wants Jack to bring back his father from Australia. Apparently Jack has hurt his father somehow. Eventually, Jack agrees to go and fetch Christian from Australia. On the island Claire has collapsed. Someone has stolen the water. Locke goes off to look for the water.Jack is running after his father. He can't find him. Flashback In Australia, Jack finds out that Christian has gone missing. He left his wallet in his hotel room. On the island Jack runs and falls down a cliff but manages to hold on to some branches. Locke turns up and takes Jack's hand to pull him up, After Locke has managed this, Jack laughs. Charlie gives water to Claire. He tells Claire about Locke going for water. The chat and start to get closer.  Sun and Jin have water. Sayid is cross about this. Jin points out that Sawyer gave it to them. Kate and Sayid confront Sawyer and he says that he traded his own water for a fish that Jin had caught. Sawyer says that water has no value as it will rain at some point. Sawyer gives his police badge to Kate. Jack and Locke talk about leadership. Jack feels like he can't be a leader. Jack is chasing something. Locke says it's like the white rabbit in Alice In Wonderland. Locke says that the "white rabbit" could be real. Locke goes off to find water. He says that Jackh should stay to find out where he's going so that he can eventually be a leader. Flashback Jack attends a morgue in Australia. Christian has died of a heart attack. Jack identifies his body. On the island Jack sees movement in the trees and he goes to investigate with a torch. Jack finds a waterfall and sees some dolls in the water. Flashback Jack isn't allowed to take the coffin on to the aeroplane to fly back to the United States. He pleads with the lady behind the desk. He must have been allowed on eventually. On the island Jack finds the coffin near the waterfall. He looks inside it but Christian is not there. Boone gives water to Claire. He had hidden it because he thought he was helping. Charlie is angry with Boone. Jack makes a speech about living together or dying alone.  People co-operate with each other. Sawyer asks Boone how it feels to be the one who everybody hates. Jack tells Kate about his dad dying in Sydney. She is sorry. I thought this was an interesting episode. It focused on Jack's feelings of inadequacy. |
