Exec producer Jeff Bell told Matt Mitovich that as the Sept. 23 premiere unspools, Fitz’s fate will go unaddressed “just long enough that you think, ‘Oh my God, really? Aren’t they going to…?!'” — before finally revealing the 411 on everyone’s fave techie. But the bigger question may be: How is the lad’s heart? “The beauty of what [Fitz said to Simmons trapped underwater] is it makes for lots of complicated feelings,” Bell notes. “I’d be curious to see how things will be different or the same now.”

Adrianne Palicki is set to play a wondrous woman on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Friday Night Lights alumna (and onetime would-be Diana Prince) has been cast on the ABC series as Barbara “Bobbi” Morse aka the costumed operative Mockingbird, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Palicki will make her debut in Season 2’s fifth episode, with the option to return.

The CW series has tapped Matt Ward (Hellcats, Tron: Legacy, Global’s Remedy) to play Simon Lacroix, who in DC Comics is an archer and foe of Green Arrow’s. Per EW.com, which first reported the news, the show’s incarnation of Simon is a deadly mercenary using the code name Komodo, who wreaks havoc in Starling City.

Brian Patrick Wade has been tapped to play Carl “Crusher” Creel, otherwise known as the Marvel villain Absorbing Man, on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Creel will “put Coulson and his team through their paces” in the season premiere, according to Marvel.com.

Do you have any scoop on Lucy Lawless’ character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? — Sydney Former S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Isabelle Hartley shares a history with Coulson, though it’s more like “mutual respect” than anything sexual, according to executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen. In fact, one might look to the comics for a possible clue as to who Isabelle shares that kind of past with. Could she be the very Isabelle that dated the late Victoria Hand? “There’s always a chance,” Jed Whedon says coyly, adding that trust will be an issue with Isabelle. “When we meet her, she might not necessarily be on the right side of things.”

Question: I would love pretty much anything you can give me on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as long as it’s not about romance/’shipping. —Joseph Ausiello: When pressed by Matt Mitovich to tease the opening moments of Season 2, EP Jeff Bell ultimately said, “We come in in a surprising way,” adding: “Coulson was always interested in getting back to the roots of S.H.I.E.L.D., to the kind of organization it used to be — you know, this small, covert, ‘men in black’ kind of thing. And I think you get a feel for that when we come into the second season.”
