See, I think you're getting one person's view when they're telling you things. In life that is.

So I'm more cynical with real people.

True, there is always just their view in the book, and I think in life too.

At least the way I see things.

I'm not un-cynical when it comes to what people tell me.

I know they only have their version of things.

I also know people don't always tell the truth.

Or sometimes they don't say everything either.

But, mostly to make my life easier, a long time ago, I decided to let people tell me what they want to tell me and take that at face value.

Sometimes, it's easy enough to see that the person who says they're such a nice person isn't actually all that nice.

But, if a person wants to let me know that they don't like chocolate, for instance, then they need to tell me that they don't like chocolate.

Saying they prefer healthy snacks won't leave me to understand that what they really mean is they don't like chocolate.

If they're not feeling good, then they need to tell me they're not feeling good.

Even if I see that something's off, I'm gonna trust that they're feeling okay if that's what they tell me.

People have got to use their words with me.

That's what I mean.

Those statements are definitely true.

People are just people,

I think that's wise, taking things at face value.

Oh I hate that-I do that. Say I prefer one thing, without saying directly I don't like something.

I do that all the time. I am afraid I'll upset people.

I think that is wise too, that people need to use their words.

Obviously, I have no desire to influence how a person behaves.

If you're more comfortable talking around what you really want and if you're happy with the results you get when you do that, then that's fine.

That's my issue.

People getting upset that I didn't understand what they weren't saying.

If people don't want to say what they mean, that's their choice.

But don't get upset with me for taking your words at face value.

I'm not a mind reader.

It really doesn't work for me.

I continue to do it, and it's banging my head on the proverbial brick wall.

I don't get upset with you.

I just always wonder with other people if they are saying everything.

You telling me that you say what you mean, a few weeks ago, really helped me see what you meant.

And I know to take it that you're saying what you mean, and you don't get what I say when I don't say what I mean.

And, I get that you were probably talking in general there, in your post, and it helps me a lot.

I know you say what you mean, and for me to not try to interpret, and see something that isn't there.

I was just now explaining how I relate to that and get it now.

Sorry, none of that was about you.

There are a lot of people around me who say one thing when they mean another.

It gets frustrating over time, that's all.

So I get touchy when I talk about taking things at face value.

Because I won't change anyone, but then I can't change that about myself either.

Yeah, I can tell that would get very frustrating.

Especially when it happens over and over.

But, you're right, speaking generally means it applies to you and me.

And especially me since I was talking about one of my big pet peeves.

Mostly I'm getting some cleaning and organizing done.

Getting rid of a lot of trash.

I had a lot of stuff on shelves that wasn't any good any more.

Also, watching Revolution (some) on DVD, and then Nascar.

Cleaning is going really slow, but really well.

Effectively. I take good breaks in between doing a little bit.

I hope you get a chance to do what you want to get done this weekend.

We're losing an hour this weekend and my cleaning lady is coming tomorrow.

So I'm gonna have to haul ass a bit more than I normally do.

Because there's the same amount as usual to do, but less time.
