Lindsay deserves a lot of credit Still iffy about her English accent but she basically did the generic one that Americans assume everybody has, which they don't. But she was young, so I'll give her a free pass on that one

I know they're both played by Lindsay but which twin do you prefer more as a character?

it's interesting I like Hallie more at camp but I like Annie as Hallie more than Hallie as Annie

I love this hairstyle on her too it's so cute the braids

That's a tough one! I think I like Annie more at camp (Hallie kind of instigated the teasing, especially when Annie notices they look similar) but when they pretend to be each other, I like them in equal measure.

Her hair is lovely in braids!

Plus, I loved that Chessy immediately figured out there was something different about her.

If I'm remembering correctly Hallie is the poor version and Annie is the rich one?

I haven't watched in ages, I thought one of the sisters had nicer clothes etc, so it came across as being more well off.

I guess you could say Annie was? But I honestly didn't feel that much of a difference.

i definitely liked Annie as Hallie, more than Hallie as Annie. Hallie was an extroverted and rather forward personality and it still came across in her masquerade as the more reserved Annie. Annie never really established the extroverted part of her Hallie persona, but her combination of both was really cute and definitely tugged my heartstrings, especially in her encounters with Chessie. i still get a little emotional when Annie says 'i am Annie!' to the confused Chessie, who is puzzled over the accent, pigtails, and oddly out of character mannerisms. it's the long lost twin sister! great film, geez it's 20 years old!

I loved that scene, too It really showed how much Chessy cares about Hallie as a surrogate family member that she instantly sensed that it wasn't her.

I loved this remake but I think the original in 1961 with Hayley Mills was far better. I still like Lindsay Lohan in this film though

It's not rich vs. poor but formal vs. casual.

They were both well off---just a different kind of well off. Annie's family was posh and polished. Old money. The family probably cares about class, status and appearances.

Hallie was raised with Nick, a rancher. But they were more rugged. Jeans and tee-shirts is an appropriate uniform. He probably owns a lot of land and that house was gorgeous. But wearing a lot of fashion, except under more formal circumstances like dinner, would seem out of place. And indeed, one of the clues that the fiancee wasn't going to last is because she was overdressed and looked uncomfortable when she tried to get casual whereas Elizabeth rocked both formal and casual looks without breaking a sweat.

And make no mistake, there are jeans and flannel shirts that are expensive.

I like the original better too--I'm more likely to rewatch. But I think part of this for people is that the first one they saw is their favorite. Both are really good and I will watch if I catch either on TV.
