Minnie Driver sang it well I love that the deleted song 'No One Would Listen' has the same melody but the lyrics are from the Phantom's POV instead of 3rd person POV.

I would love an extended cut to be released. This movie has so much mixed love for it but I think that it's aging well. I enjoy it more now than I did when it came out. It just has that....timeless quality to it. It has romance, action, suspense and great music!

^^ The first time I watched it, I hated Raoul but after a re-watch a few years later, I came to understand his character more. I was just so stuck on Christine and the phantom that his character bothered me at that time.

I still kinda dislike him.

He just re-appears into her life and starts dictating everything. He makes a big deal about the fact that they were --childhood friends-- but he hadn't seen her in years, yet suddenly everyone's listening to him about "hunting down the Phantom" and he didn't bother listening to Christine about whether she was comfortable with the whole manhunt.

He's too goody-goody for my liking. Plus, he was more privileged and lucky than the Phantom could ever be. My heart was with the Phantom


I wish he hadn't resorted to murder, of course - but they were making a mockery of him!

Same He sweet-talks Christine in her dressing room about their childhood memories, but if you really think about it, she hasn't known for him for years. It was as if he didn't expect her to have much of a life without him.

I liked how the sequel dared to take the characters to new places and show Raoul as a flawed person who couldn't wholly fulfill his position as her life partner. I think it showed that their romance was something they had willed into existence, rather than letting it happen naturally.

There is an age gap and that is clearer in the stage production. However, did he even have any concept of time and age? He had been living underground, with only Madame Giry for company. His whole head was filled with music and artistry. He had no experience with social interaction and as a child, he had only known physical torture.

He fell in love with Christine's singing voice. I think there's something endearing about that, something very pure.
