Universal health care, man. I know it seems complicated to people who don't have it and I'll be the first to admit that it's not perfect. But the bottom line is, your medical costs are covered, at least to some degree, by the government.

Leanne, if your doctor can't point you in the right direction, your local health hotline should. And if those guys can't do it either, you have to have a crisis/suicide hotline around there, too, who, my hand to God, will point you in the right direction.

Kim, I'm happy to hear you're feeling better. Some days will always be harder than others. But, when you can, I do think moving, even a little bit, helps.

Yeah, I'm really bad about a lot of moving.

I need to be out walking in my driveway, on the days I'm not out running errands, too.

Don't get yourself down thinking you need some sort of big exercise regiment. Every little bit helps. Small movements count.

I’m depressed cause my doc doesn’t believe my issues are bad enough for any medication help, she keeps giving me exersices for lifestyle changes, which isn’t a bad thing but I hate that she doesn’t beleive I’m in any way even high functioning Aspie. I feel like when I try to describe it no one takes me seriously. And they don’t ask me specific questions, just telling me I make good eye contact and can carry a conversation and have a job,

I don’t know it’s horrible to not be believed in what I say especially when it’s vulnerable admittance.

I've only met you for a short time, Leanne, and I could tell you are Aspie, I'm amazed that your doctor doesn't see it. Is there anyway you can see another doctor? That one seems rubbish to me.

I'm sorry it's getting you down though.

I'm intrigued you could tell, Claire!! Its interesting how some will notice and so many others won't notice!!

I'm trying to get my spirits back up though. It just feels like at this point, it will be too hard to prove this as an adult who "functions" in life on the surface level! And what's worse, its even trying to articulate it isn't easy cause verbal communication can be challenging.

Well I think a doctor should be able to see that.

Yes I could tell you found eye contact difficult, and that kind of thing, but it was fine because I was expecting that, seeing as I know you quite well! This doctor I guess knows very little about it, and for some reason refuses to get you talk to a specialist about it. My son is going to be tested for asperger's, he was referred by his school, I didn't speak to the GP about it.

That's lucky for your son, Claire. I'm jealous of kids nowadays who get tested and noticed for these things and then can get assistance in school and stuff to prepare them for the big bad world by the time they reach adulthood. No one even knew about that stuff when I was young, so I was just thrown in the pile of neurotypical kids and had to wing it or just adjust and create self defence mechanisms. Good thing I'm a keen observer of what others do.

I need more questions specifically asked, not opened ended questions and surface judgement on the spot to brush me off on my suspicions. If they asked certain questions, I could give them specific examples that match so many lists of symptoms from my past and present life.

Maybe next time you see her you could go in with a written list of examples of stuff you do, and how you cope with social situations, etc.

^ that is a really good idea, Leanne. Then you'd be focused, and able to better explain to her the kind of help you need.

If she still blows you off, you need to talk to her supervisor, and if she doesn't have one, then someone with your insurance, and tell them she's not meeting your needs.

Leanne, we're all entitled to a second opinion. If you're not satisfied with that your doctor's saying, you can go see another one without "losing" your primary doctor. There are all kinds of health clinics and hospitals all over the place. You're perfectly entitled to call up and say "I'm looking for a second opinion on this issue."

^ great idea.

I don't know if you guys are interested in an opinion article on depression, but I really enjoy this man's opinions. He has wonderful insight, into a variety of issues. Just in case. https://johnpavlovitz.com/2015/04/17...=johnpavlovitz

Yeah, I was thinking about doing a write up with all my traits I've had that match up the lists I've read and that way I wouldn't miss anything during the appointments. I'm not good at remembering everything I know on the spot!

Thanks for the advice

It's your life. Doctors are there to help us. That's their job.

I'm having to work very hard to find good in the world right now, and to find good in my life.

I know the good is there, it's just one of those points where I'm going to have to regain my footing, and find balance again.

I'm very tired, and very sad.
