Still good, still good!

Lord of the Rings is going to make it tough, but I think it can still stay in the top 10.

LOTR will definitely make it tough for BS but I also think it'll remain within the Top 10. Maybe it'll be 8th next weekend? Gradually and slowly moving down. It's great how it's basically made back its 18 million budget .. as well as the 20 million in marketing costs.

Almost 40 million!

There was a biiig Bad Santa shout out today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Shirley McClaine was on and earlier in the show Ellen was sitting on Santa's knee and Shirly says "That was scary. The only thing scarier is Billy Bob Thronton. Have you seen Bad Santa? It's hilarious! It's disgusting and filthy and I laughed every minute."

Or something to that effect. But how cool, Shirley McClaine's seen Lauren in a movie!

I feel like a dummy for asking but...

Who is Shirley McClaine?

Go tothis thread and campaign Lauren Graham for Bad Santa.

Shirley's IMDB profile

Bad Santa was in fourth place yesterday with $571,000. It's estimated to have a total gross of $36,286,000. Yipee!

I'm thinking next week will bring an extra rise to BS's box office. I know the movie isn't really all that 'Christmas-y' but who could pass up a BS?

I wonder if any of the Mall Santa's around here are like Willie..

from Box Office Prophets

Gilmore-related portion of article:
Quote:
Meanwhile two Christmas-themed films continue to rule the contest of legs, as Elf and Bad Santa show staying power. Elf is closing in on $150 million for this weekend and is the film that stands to benefit the most from the rejuvenation that will occur Christmas week. The misanthropic Bad Santa is an unlikely champion of the holiday season, and the $35 million it's made in three weeks after a $12 million opening is very promising for black comedy, which are hit and miss at the best of times.
===
Forecast: Weekend of December 19-21, 2003
Rank Film Estimated Gross ($)
1 The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King 66.7
2 Mona Lisa Smile 15.3
3 Something's Gotta Give 11.1
4 The Last Samurai 7.3
5 Stuck on You 4.4
6 Elf 4.1
7 Bad Santa 4.0
8 The Haunted Mansion 3.6
9 Love Don't Cost a Thing 3.3
10 Honey 2.4
I still haven't seen Bad Santa, because of my crazy schedule! But I'm glad to hear it's doing so well and will most definitely catch it sometime this weekend, finally!

Bad Santa is really doing well.. it's made well over what it cost to make the film and it's still in the top 10.

Told ya Honey would fall behind and Lord of the Rings would make it to number 1. Speaking of LOTR, I promised Kevin I'd watch it at the theater with him this Saturday.

Kitty ~ Ready for a 3+ hour film fest? I want to see LOTR but I don't think I could sit there for 3 1/2 hours. I hate movies that are over 2 hours.

If BS makes 4 million this weekend, it'll put it way past the $40 million mark and could possibly break the $50 million mark. I still haven't seen BS but I'm planning to see it on the 23rd.

thanks for the props! 3 1/2 hours, huh? Oh, boy! He wanted me to get into the whole mood so I have already watched both movies this past week! I fell asleep on him twice! He owes me a big bucket of popcorn and a large soda and some red vines now! He also has to watch every Lauren appearance with me, unless he has to work early the next day and Gilmore Girls every Tuesday night! But he already watches GG with me.

That's good that Bad Santa was nominated. I wish Lauren was. But if the movie gets recognition.. then so does Lauren.
