Box Office Update
Bad Santa made another $606,000 yesterday(good enough for second place) and is now at a grand total of $27,744,000. BS seems to be doing particularly well on the weekdays. I mean it beat out Honey yesterday which was the #2 movie at the box office this past weekend. Placements: Weekend #1(Friday-Sunday): 5th place Monday: #1 Tuesday: #1 Wednesday: #1 Thursday: #1 Weekend #2(Friday-Sunday): 6th place Monday(12/08/03): #2 __________________

Actually, from what I've learned in film classes. It's not surprising at all that Bad Santa would come before Honey. It all has to do with the type of movie it is. Honey is almost what we would call a 'chick flick' and chick flicks don't do all that great in theaters. Also, if there is a movie that has mostly women in it.. it also won't do well. Comedies, Action and Horror movies do best in the box office. Movies that have more men or have a more 'manly' vibe to them will do better in theaters. An all male cast will do better in theaters than an all female cast.
Honey is basically just about this girl who is a dancer and makes it to the top. It's more of a movie that people will wait for when it comes out on video. Bad Santa has the controversy, all the ads advertising foul language, sex and other things.. which would make it seem more exciting. In the business, 65 percent of the jobs (acting parts) are for men.. the other 35 percent is for women. They will almost always have at least one woman in the promos or posters.. just to round things off. And almost always will the woman be in a sexy outfit or position. So, Bad Santa being number one over Honey, doesn't surprise me one bit! __________________

Kitty's right...of course she is [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] I'm also taking a film class Survey of American Cinema, and it's also a statement too...Honey is pretty much a chick flick like she said and it doesn't really have anything of importance in it (no offense) but Bad Santa probably did really well because of the social statements in it...it has a lot of points and hidden meanings through today's reality, so I'm not really all that surprised either!

Did you guys know that Scott teaches an acting class in Hollywood? I'm not sure if he's doing it right now, but he did earlier. I would have loved to see Lauren in one of her acting classes. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img] __________________
