Yeah, when they moved production out of Vancouver I stopped watching. The California filmed episodes are so bright and sunny and desert-y, the scary mood is lowered compared to Vancouvers grey skies, rain, creepy forests to add to the mood.
Fun fact, David Duchovny, in an interview around season 5 said that a good acting technique for him when having an intense mood for Mulder would be to skip his bathroom breaks and having to really need to pee.  so if Mulder seems really extra annoyed or mad, it's cause DD has to go, apparently__________________

This is one of my fave vids that show the chemistry between DD and GA.
If you can’t hear the real sound, just looking at them looking at each other, it can totally pass as feeling unresolved sexual tension when in reality, M&S were getting nervous and a bit scared But the way they just looked at each other.   __________________
