COMRADES IN ARMS

It’s an Everwood reunion!

Irv and Amy we’re together again, lol.

Nice to see you again, John Beasley.
They must have had so much fun working together again. Please...bring on Greg Smith next!

Things aren’t so black and white... administration is not filled with 100% evil people... well besides new moronic financial administrator who Nic got fired
.
OMG..she was sooooooooooooooo irritating! And the CEO is no better. I realize they have to keep the hospital functioning financially, but...that doesn't mean they have not one ounce of compassion.

Quote:
Once again, Conrad’s desire to help people was passionately swirling around. I love how nothing stops him, he’s going to give his patients the care they deserve. I also love the new dynamic between Conrad and Devon. They are friends now and speak the same language.
I love that, too. Devon paid his dues in the beginning and proved himself very capable. Thus...he has earned Conrad's respect.

Quote:
Emily as Nic... what can I say? Nic is hands down my favorite character. I swear, Emily’s character is Intuitive... she’s picking up on things naturally. She knew the young woman with leukemia had zero business being discharged. She knows Dr. Hunter is dirty. She called it.
What I don't understand is...why does Conrad continually stick up for her? She seemed very chummy toward him. Do they have a history?

Quote:
Devon is such a sweet character. He wears his heart on his sleeve but is learning how to combine compassion with intellect.
I like him alot as well.
Quote:
Dr. Mina Okafor does have some arrogance (mostly in her surgical cases) but it’s used wisely. She’s confident in her ability. I cracked up when she had the patients attempt to walk and “the losers” had to stay another week, lol.
She is a pistol. She knows she's arrogant. Mina: "I know this is not my expertise, but I'm arrogant enough to want to do it." She definitely saved the day, and in the nick of time!

Quote:
Dr. Bell might be temporarily fixing his tremor but we heard about the side effects of the medication for a reason. He’ll definitely be showing aggression soon.
It's going to affect his cognitive ability in some way. That doesn't sound like a good thing for a surgeon.

Quote:
We keep being teased about the relationship between Nic and Conrad and their history. Things are going to heat up soon because a triangle war is so on.
Did he do a double take when he realized his friend was going to compete for her?

ETA: I didn't appreciate seeing that compound fracture at the beginning of the episode.

You can see that something is bothering him, but you can't see how he feels about it. At least for me it's not clear enough. He opens up to her most probably more than to other people, but maybe she needed more than that?

Quote:
But it might be the big things he keeps from her. If so, it's just not going to work when she's also battling the loss of her mother. Her job is in honor of her mother's death. Clearly, she's in healing mode. She would need a solid romantic relationship or none at all. She's independent. She doesn't seem to be the type to need a boyfriend. She's just fine single. You can tell she wants the relationship to go somewhere/with potential or nothing at all.
Yeah most probably she wants all or nothing and he wants something in between.

Quote:
That's why I am sure she'll go on that date with the friend of Conrad's but quickly realize either way if it's worth it. She doesn't seem to be the type to just casually explore this area. She makes up her mind fairly quickly based on long term needs and desires.
I still have not watched the third episode so I will see how I would interpret it .

Quote:
Hunter is dirty. I believe Nic intuitively picked up on this immediately and Hunter knew it which is why she was so rude to her. I love Mina too. She's so blunt, lol. But with the blunt way she behaves, you can still see a level of caring at the same time. You just don't mess with her, lol.
I think that even Devon picked that there was something fishy when it came to Hunter. The fact that the files were removed only further proved that they were both right to doubt her.

Mina might not be your emotionally open person, but her goal is to do the best she can for the best outcome. In the end of the day her patients win out of this. She is also not in your face. She keeps silent until asked for input. That's the type of confident people I like. Be confident but only when being asked and not in my face all the time .

Looking forward to your thoughts on the third episode.

Mina is a sweet character, I really enjoy her. Unique!

Would love this!

Quote:

It was horrible. Not sure how that type of person wakes up in the morning without severe guilt.

Quote:
I love that, too. Devon paid his dues in the beginning and proved himself very capable. Thus...he has earned Conrad's respect.
It was awesome. How Conrad originally treated him I actually had zero problem with. What better way to learn than on the fly and without being nursed along. It worked out perfectly.

Quote:

You make a good point. I don't know if she's manipulated him and he's clueless and doesn't suspect a thing or like you said, there's a history. It does seem weird that Conrad has Bell analyzed perfectly but seems clueless concerning Hunter.

Quote:
I like him alot as well.
Great character and the actor plays him beautifully.

Quote:
She is a pistol. She knows she's arrogant. Mina: "I know this is not my expertise, but I'm arrogant enough to want to do it." She definitely saved the day, and in the nick of time!
Exactly!

He might be fixing the tremor but the cognitive stuff is going to be far worse. I understand his need to keep the tremor private and be in denial about reaching a point where hanging up the surgeon label is scary. It's all he knows. But man, one of these days he's going to screw over a patient, maybe even kill the patient. I hope it doesn't come to his health affecting one of his patients because it would be a disaster. He can still work, just not as a surgeon. He doesn't have to entirely quit his job. He can do surgical consults, figure out treatment approaches, then other surgeons like Mina take over. So it's not like he has to entirely walk away from medicine, he just needs to tweak his responsibilities.

Quote:
Did he do a double take when he realized his friend was going to compete for her?
Yes! He did! At first he thought his friend meant "war" as in... good luck getting her back, pal, kind of thing. Then when he did the double take he realized his friend meant... war is on between the two friends and may the best man win. He looked uneasy, for sure.

ETA: I didn't appreciate seeing that compound fracture at the beginning of the episode.
I had to turn my head! I hate needles, the fracture thing, lol, stuff like that even if I know it's fake. You'd think I'd be better about this considering we watch The 100. Not the case. This type of show affects me more because we can say The 100 is fantasy and not real if that makes sense. On The Resident, we know these things do happen daily in real life so it's tougher to keep processing it as fake.

Mina is indeed unique character!

I have not watched the third episode but I wanted to comment on Hunter/Conrad. I do not believe that Conrad is clueless. I believe that Conrad is very aware of Hunter's shortcomings, but for some reason she is helpful for him.

If there is something that I identify with Conrad is the way we play the game. Notice that he knows very well how to play the game with different people. He know how to play Bell - using his fears. He knows how to play Mina - using her ambition.

I am pretty sure that he needs Hunter for something which is why he closes his eyes for some stuff she is doing. Most probably he finds her good doctor despite doing questioning things because frankly he does them too. On the other hand Bell is a lousy doctor. His actions cause patients' life. For Hunter I guess Conrad feels that she is good doctor despite everything else.

It’s very possible. There’s speculation she’s overdosing her patients on chemo. I can’t see Conrad ever turning the other cheek on something that terrible. So I guess it depends on what she’s precisely up to. If it’s something that drastic, I don’t think he knows. If she’s remotely playing around with her patients, definitely not.

I see your point somewhat, but Lane could have put the cancer patient's life in danger by releasing her from the hospital early. You will see in the third episode.

It definitely appears to me that there are alot of questionable people working at this hospital. Thank God for Conrad, Nic, Devon, and Mina!

Exactly. I can’t see Conrad aware of what she’s truly up to. He’s way too decent of a person to turn his back on such serious stuff.

Both bring valid points. Maybe he knows some stuff, but not the whole truth?

It will definitely be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I am thoroughly invested in this show. How about the two of you? And...is anyone else out there enjoying this series?
Shu...you seemed interested..

I mentioned before this type of show certainly isn’t my cup of tea but I’m really digging it so far. There’s zero downplaying... exploration of complete truth. I love it. Discussing financial repercussions of a patient, finding a way to get her surgery without having to spend $2,000,000. Things aren’t so black and white... administration is not filled with 100% evil people... well besides new moronic financial administrator who Nic got fired.
I enjoy the show so far too. So to answer your question Betty I am invested too .

This show is beautifully realistic. They don’t sugar coat and there’s consequences. Conrad realizes that two wings are going to be understaffed, for example.
Honestly that was not surprising. I understand why the CEO was pissed and I think that deep down he understood it too. Btw talking about Conrad I am glad that they decided to use military background because the way he treats is typical for military doctors. When I watched the Pilot I specifically thought about this because this is the only thing that would explain his way of treating patients. Military doctors do not have MRIs and expensive equipment. They have to react really quickly using not a lot of tools.

I loved Devon from the Pilot so I am glad that they have respect for each other now.

She knew the young woman with leukemia had zero business being discharged. She knows Dr. Hunter is dirty. She called it. As we see next week they will be exploring the dirt that surrounds this specialist who prefers her treatment to take place as privately as possible due to dirty dealings. Hope she goes down. Nic called it. I just love Emily’s character. She’s intelligent, kind, driven, doesn’t take crap both professionally and personally and has this aura of calmness no matter the circumstance. Next to Amy Abbott, this might be my favorite role for Emily.
I have not watched Brothers and sisters so I can't comment on Rebecca. I liked Emily but I like Nic more. And I am not super fan of Amy so Nic wins over for me, but then again Nic is adult and Amy was a teen. I actually love the mature way Nic handles stuff. Also loved the way she played Barb.

Agree .

That was hilarious, but also quite efficient way to be honest. I also love her. She is quite refreshing character that you do not get to see on TV.

I think that Nic would decide to stay out of the triangle for the long term. I don't think that she appreciated too much the invite. It's no wonder that the guy had to confirm that it's not a date.

But we will see. I just don't think that she was that interested in the guy. And I do not think that she liked the fact that he invited her considering he knows her history with Conrad.

Oh and I love the actress that played Luisa and loved Luisa as a character. I hope that she is recurring character in the show considering that she will have long rehab and that it would have consequences for the ER.

You just don't see it! She can play it so perfectly too. She orders people around, has a little arrogance, but there's a sincerity and caring along with it too. The actress is phenomenal.

You're right, she didn't even seem enthusiastic about going on the date.

I loved her too! What a terrific story. I hope we see her off and on. Given her future career goals maybe that's a hint we'll see her from time to time.
