He is good looking...I'll give him that..but! How can any decent woman want to marry a man who would not recognize his child? Not only does he not recognize his child...but he verbally insults him every chance he has. How could any woman want to have a child with a man like this? How could she expect him to be a decent father?
To Deb's defense, she didn't know about Karen or Lucas when she and Dan got married. They were both sophomores in college when Deb realized she was pregnant with Nathan. Dan dropped out, soon Deb to raise Nathan. When they later moved to Tree Hill, Deb was told about his relationship with Karen. I was never sure if Dan went into detail about how they were high school sweethearts and really loved each other. I'm sure Dan put his own twist on the story to make him out to be the good guy and not the guy to leave his pregnant girlfriend for a better life in college playing basketball.

Dan doesn't know how to really do anything but compete and be better at something, no matter what it is. He would drink enough water to win a spitting contest if one challenged him. Later you will kind of find out why Dan is so competitive (in this season actually....1x13) And it's really kind of sad the way Dan grew up and then the way he raised Nathan and how the cycle kind of repeated itself. See, the thing is Nathan is learning mistakes and what not to do from Dan. Dan never learned, he just repeated, no matter how hard he knew it was. He was never shown a better way.

you said it! But really an understatement. She's seen as the popular girl, the cheerleader, the sidekick of Brooke Davis. But inside, Peyton was dying. She deserved a mom who would love her unconditionally and support her through the artistic tendencies she has to write random things on the river court. I really wish we could've had more insight on her mom, I think it would've explained a lot of Peyton in the beginning.

It's really hard to see Nathan go through all the things he's gone through and still seem to have an optimistic attitude. No wonder he was a beast on the basketball court, he was fighting the beast at home. And it was like Deb did nothing. That's what really made me hate her, like really hate her. This is her son that his own father is practically killing him from the inside out. Making him believe that he'll never be good enough and never achieve the great Scott glory that Dan had done. It's quite tragic and sad the road Nathan will go down just to prove he is good enough.

Nathan, i don't think, ever saw Lucas as the bad guy. A threat, yes, but not a bad guy. So when Nathan saw him with Peyton, he could tell they clicked. And Nathan knew there wasn't much more of a future with him and Peyton. Anyone...a blind man...could know that Nathan and Peyton were all sorts of wrong in a lot of ways. And Nathan was really easing up, not because of his promise to Haley, but because of his feelings for Haley. Nathan started to recognize another part of life, a life outside of basketball and competition...he found love.

Now there's a difference of opinion whether he loved Peyton or not, but I think with Haley it was a love where he was determined to be a better man...to become a man with integrity and not just a man. Peyton was so lost inside herself, she had no idea how to help Nathan become a better man...Haley just did it. She just listened and opened up to him and in turn, he opened up to her...big time. And I believe, in those four or so episodes, the Scott brothers really changed the family dynamic of basketball ruining...er...ruling lives.

It's much more fun to find out on your own, that way it's unexpected and everything starts to make sense. Sometimes I'll be writing one of these things on this board and in comes a character revelation that comes out way later in the series and I don't want to ruin it for you

Remember when I was watching Everwood for the first time....I was so excited. To me, it was a brand new series...and you all already had your magic.

It's time for you to have that magic

Where was Brooke while Peyton struggled all episode long? She was ticked, made it about her, and never fricken bothered to see if Peyton was okay
Are they really considered best friends?

I wonder why Nathan wants Peyton back so much. I can't figure out why. Is he afraid of being alone? I wonder what the reason is.
I guess it's that thing his dad instilled in him that he needs to do anything not to lose.

I guess the fact that Nathan is not showing outrage toward Lucas or Peyton shows that he is not seriously invested in the relationship.....no true love there. I guess for him it's just a convenient relationship.

Glad to hear that. I wouldn't want Dan's story ruined for you. Dan is a huge part of OTH and his story is a big one. I think it would be better for you to experience it on your own.

They are but Brooke in season 1 is mostly concerned with getting the attention of Lucas no matter how pathetic she looks and making everything about her.

I wouldn't recommend skipping them, unless LP are the only thing you enjoy about the show. There are some down episodes for sure but there is still some things worth watching.

I was kidding....I wouldn't skip anything. I love LP, but I am enjoying the show as a whole and I'm sure that I will enjoy the episodes no matter what!
