What I really, really like from the premiere is they showed Frank and Claire as happy, married couple still in love with each other. It makes the inner conflict within Claire more believable and THAT much more powerful.
Agreed Haven't read the books, but I already like this more. Like Frank wasn't jerk who mistreated Claire, they actually had a beautiful, loving relationship. They had nice relationship, very loving. It makes Claire a stronger character because she never settled for less than what she deserved.

I know you guys know the answer, but I am so curious if Claire will ever meet Frank again.

No watching Claire's struggle between Jamie and Frank has always been so interesting to me. Even though it's such a surreal situation, DG always made it feel so real. Only making you feel even more for Claire. And seeing how well they're handling things, I'm really excited to see how that struggle translates on screen.

She would expect no less than what she's already known. It makes her expectation level high and Jamie will have to meet or exceed them to have anything meaningful with Claire. That's why it was a smart move to really develop the Frank/Claire story and give the relationship meat and not a casual afterthought.

I read the book about 4 years ago, so I don't remember a lot of it anymore. But I do remember how it started and when she met Jamie for the first time. So those details I think they captured superbly in this first ep.

I've only read the 1st and 2nd books though. I needed a break after that 2nd book and somehow I just never got back to them. Now I feel like I should start reading this series again.

Before e-books came along, one needed a cart to carry the book on a commute!

I read the first two, then got busy with life. Since then I've downloaded the book on my Kindle and it's made it easier and more, convent to read.

Whenever I'm on line waiting, I read. Making progress a lot faster this time around.

I got as far as A Breath of Snow and Ashes years ago, but then life got complicated, and I stopped reading it. I found my books not too long ago when I heard of the TV series, and saw my 2008 bookmark was on chapter 96, page 1190. Ugh, I read so much, and wanted to pick up where I left off, but I had NO IDEA who some of the characters talking were. So I just started all over with book 1 by downloading them onto my phone rather than carry my books. That's so 20th Century. j/k

Wow, bookmark still in place. Can only imagine reading and going 'who is this person'?!

My family will attest my long resistance to to e-book because I love the tactical turning of the page. They have had enough of my books all about the house. (in my defense, I don't think it was THAT bad) So Santa provided a Kindle as a trial run one Christmas and...

BEST. THING. EVER.

Now I don't buy a handbag unless my Kindle fits! So over 20th Century!

I was the same way. I swore I would never get an e-reader. Then when I bought one I wished I'd bought it sooner. Seriously, don't know what I was thinking! I love to read and this was perfect for me.

I have the Kindle app on my phone, but I guess I'm old school, because I still love my actual books. But that being said, I've killed a few books rather quickly thanks to my app.

Welcome to the love fest fate2doom.

Apparently the Pilot has already been viewed nearly a million times. That's awesome news!

And that's not even the official Premiere. I wonder how many new subscribers to STARZ the preview has generated. They'll publish the numbers in the trades so we'll find out soon enough.

THe premiere on August 9th those are the ratings numbers that really count. Hoping for the best.
