I haven't read the books, but I want to. I've seen the first episode, and it's really good so far.

I love the books.

But they do take forever to read.

The first episode stayed very true to the book. Or part of the book since that was barely the whole book.

But that one scene with Claire and Frank in the abandon building.

I know it's cable and they show more sexual and graphic scenes, but I really wasn't expecitng that.

I think the story is going to be spread out seeing how big the first book is. I think there are like 800 + pages. I bought the kindle version of the first book. I will start reading it this week.

That is the one thing about cable shows, they like their sex scenes. I could have done without. I would much rather Claire with Jamie than with Frank.

I really got into the story when she traveled back in time. Timetravel is like my all time favorite storyline

Usually I don't mind. And I guess that's a good thing. since there's tons of sex in the books.

I already can't wait for the next episode.

IKR. And Ron Moore and Diana weren't actually forthcoming if the whole book encompasses season 1. I know for sure some of the other editions definitely can not be covered within a single season and Ron said as much. Guess everything will be ratings dependent.

Believe the strategy is to get viewers hooked on the first episode so they can order STARZ on cable to view the rest of the story. Trying to reel in the crowd by offering it for free now.

True, but they could of done that without having it early. It's the same thing they do with individual sports packages like the baseball package, football, etc. They have it available for free for usually the first week sometimes 2 weeks.

It all depends on the ratings? There are surely going all out on the marketing!

Add me please! I just found the Outlander thread on the Television board, but it definitely deserves it's own!

I get what some of you were saying about the added Frank and Claire scene, and I kind of agree. But after watching the premiere a ridiculous amount of times, I think they were just trying to broaden Frank and Claire's relationship. And also help demostrate that here is a very strong, sexy, modern woman who owns her sexuality. Which definitely aligns with Claire's character. But I agree that I would rather see Claire with Jamie than with Frank.

But overall, I was very impressed with how true they stayed to the books. I'm seriously dying for the second episode.
