He's getting too much backlash just for trying different things. He didn't destroy anything. It's not like when Alien 3 killed Newt and Hicks off-screen. He gave Luke Skywalker a brave goodbye scene. In fact, he got 3 goodbyes - with Leia, with Kylo/Ben, and in front of the binary sunset. None of us like seeing the original trio die, but Luke died honorably.

I hated that about Aliens 3
 I liked Hicks a lotThat’s my thing about Luke obviously sucks all of our 3 originals dying but thus far both Han’s and Luke’s have been memorable — come on, Frak, Luke saved the Rebels__________________

Oh I love that the tweet mentions Nightmare on Elm Street. I grew up on these movies and the remake was AWFUL and ruined the character for me (it was another actor which didn't help). But did I go harass the director because of it
? No. I just didn't rewatch it and I only rewatch the original ones. Done.__________________
