So I just watched Ewan's movie with Colin Farrel "Cassandra's Dream." It was alright, but the ending was kind of lame. The movie's message wasn't subtle at all. It was actually kind of preachy.

I was surprised by how not on Ewan's side I was on.
I expected to root for him out of my biasness and ended up cursing him and rooting for poor Colin's character. The fact that that happened made their performances worth it. I didn't find it preachy. Just a bit cliché. |

Unfortunately I wasn't rooting for either because I could see both points of view. It just seemed very "murder is wrong" to me. Killing destroyed both their lives, so people should kill is the message I got. Like we don't already know that. The ending felt very expected to me. I only gave it three stars on netflix.

Well I am totally bias because of my love for Ewan than.
I usually go into his films on his side, and then depending on the character he plays, which he always plays with brilliance, I can root for him even more or totally turn against his character. Ever see Match Point? That was a better Woody Allen film. And I can't take his comedies. Death to Annie Hall! |

Even in a mediocre Ewan film it is worth it for his performance, I think.
Weird... Match Point is the first time I ever liked a Woody film. You should give it a try. Unless you usually agree with her on movies, then you're taking a big chance. |

My movie likes are rather weird; sometimes we agree, sometimes we don't, but I very rarely take her movie opinion seriously. She's one of those people that likes a movie only if those with her liked it.

Oh, she goes with the masses to fit in.

I don't think she realizes that she does it, but it's something I've noticed.

Yea. It feels like a social experiment. Subconsciously people want to fit in and survive to they go with the masses to do so without realizing what their true feelings are.

That's weird. I've usually found myself trying to dislike something popular, or getting irritated when something I like gets popular. I figured that's how most people were; desperate attempt for individualism. I think that's part of why I hate Juno.

That is interesting in itself.
If you are trying to dislike something popular because of your irritation then that taints your view of it. Even if something is popular and you go in with a blank slate of feelings maybe you would have a different opinion coming out of it. That whole social experiment was something I saw years ago on some childhood development documentary. How going with the masses starts is childhood and then carries into adulthood. Anyway.... |

Obi-Wan! Greatest jedi of all. Ewan McGregor was perfect for the role, I really liked his portrayal of the character. Plus, he's hot. Plus, he's funny. In short, he's awesome!

Oh wow I haven't seen this thread in so long! Thanks for reviving it.
I was drooling over Ewan when I first saw TPM. And he rocks that beard in the later films. __________________
