Well, there is one of the NJO ebooks published in a Dark Nest book, but I never considered Dark Nest part of the NJO series. Dark Nest is a separate trilogy.

They just call it the NJO era. Not the same series.

NJO began the EU's run toward Darker And Edgier. Even the comedy books like Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor now drop many horror tropes. (Why are Cronal's stormtroopers' uniforms black? Hint: That's not paint.)

The thing is, Shadows of Mindor is supposed to be comedy, but there's so much horror, even cosmic horror. (I'd say for someone as optimistic as Luke, the idea of seeing the heat-death of the universe counts.)

I have found a few books in the series enjoyable.
Still, the series should have been 9 books long, not 19.
