Simon Pegg talks Star Trek
Quote:
Zach Quinto, who does Spock, is phenomenally like… I mean, he looks like Leonard Nimoy. On set, out of the corner of your eye, you’d think it was Leonard, it was really weird. And Chris [Pine], who’s Kirk, has just got that fantastic sort of swagger, you know, that Shatner had
Here's hoping the fans share his opinion.

Kirk with a swagger, eh.

I dont doubt people will be able to pull off the rolls. Spock, Scotty, and Kirk will be the most difficult, but we'll have to see. I have high hopes for Quinto tho.

Can't say that I'm too enthusiastic about them recasting the original characters. I would have preferred if they had taken things in an entirely new direction. Having said that, it's a done deal now and I really hope that the movie is successful. If it's not, I think the future for the franchise will be pretty bleak.

It would be out of character if he didn't.

I don't think the franchise is going to die. If this movie fails the franchise will just go into hibernation for a while until the next incarnation. And I think that'd be for the better if this is all they can come up with now.

I'd rather skip the hibernation phase if possible.

J.J. Abrams interview

Quote:
"We're in this place now where we have trailers. It's making me nuts. Even though the movie is coming out in May, the truth is we have all the stuff that we would've had. We're on schedule, the same schedule we'd supposed to be on. We're going to be done, we're going to have a movie that's ready to come out in Christmas."

So trailer(s) would, hypothetically, be out sometime soon?

From what he says, they're ready. I'm not sure how far in advance they usually start showing trailers.

First Cut of Star Trek Movie Screened at Paramount

Quote:
According to the site sources, the screening was a "hit" and the reaction was "far beyond expectations", leaving the studio executives "impressed" with the first cut of the movie.

The 'Shatner Swag!'......

I wonder if he has the 'Shatner Beer Gut' to go with it.

I don't know if it was posted here, but Harry Knowles was shown some unfinished clips and was blown away by how good Karl Urban was for Bones.

Hopefully not for another decade or two ...

I'm glad that the buzz so far from anybody who's seen something seems to be positive.

I'd prefer a hibernation phase to an insult-the-franchise phase.

The beast is awake now. Here's hoping that we like the outcome.
