You're welcome.

It would be nice if they'd give us some more promo material.

Yeah, like 2 more trailers. I'm a real sucker for trailers. I live for them. Only reason to go to the movies, IMHO.

A trailer with some of the actors in character would certainly be nice.

A little something at aintitcool

Summary
Quote:
A scene with a baby Spock.
The inside of a Federation ship that was "very shadowy and very much like that of an old diesel submarine."
A massive crowd scene of Federation graduates in a hangar, complete with old-school Trek shuttles.
A pre-command Kirk almost ready to be thrown out of Starfleet over that whole Kobayashi Maru situation. (Geeks, you know what I mean.)
McCoy, Spock and Uhura all ending up on the bridge with Captain Pike.
The ship looks functional and "Mac-like".

Sounds exciting.

I know everyone is drooling over the movie, but I think I'd be happier if they were launching a new Trek series on television to capitalize on the movie's fame.

Well, I figure if the movie is successful it's more likely that we'll get another series. That would open another can of worms though since the movie actors probably wouldn't want to come to the grind of weekly tv, but that's who new fans would expect to see.

Well I'd prefer another series in the TNG/DS9/VOY timeline myself, I really don't have much interest in TOS timeline. I never could get into it.

But of course I'm going to see this film, I mean JJ Abrams and Trek? I'm there.

IAWTP. I couldn't get into TOS, except for the movies, either.

TOS does seem rather dated now, but it was filmed 40 years ago, so that's to be expected. Having said that, I have a hard time watching TOS now.

Well I first got into Trek when TNG was running so I watched that first. Now had I watched TOS first I might feel differently.

I did enjoy the TOS movies though, all of them were pretty good.

Pegg as Scotty is so totally inappropriate. Casting like that is just disrespectful. They might as well cast Owen Wilson as Uhura.

I'm dreading this film. And if they make a follow-up then they'll really bring the rot into the Trek franchise. I hope this film flops and the franchise shuts down for a while until somebody is prepared to to continue it properly.

Also, I don't get the big horror about the rumor that Tom Cruise might have a cameo. I mean, there's so much horribly wrong with this movie, a cameo by Cruise is hardly the thing to quibble about, there's plenty REAL problems with the movie to be bothered by.

And did I hear right that they're going to have the short skirts? So much change but THAT has to stay the same? 1960s sexism in the 21st century. Great. They better not put anybody in a 7 of 9 bodysuit.
