I guess it's not something you share with your guy right before he's to be hanged. 'Yo, enjoy your execution, also you're leaving behind a kid', probably wouldn't help Renaude in feeling any better about his circumstances. Also, she might worry that someone would overhear them.
And most of all, those writers suck. They didn't even think of it. She has known few weeks in 2x22, but I'm not sure the writers decided to make her pregnant before writing 2x22. 2x21 and 2x22 are only a night apart. Renaude changed sides like two or three days before the siege? And right before he leaves the castle, he talks with Kenna about their relationship. It's him who wants to move their relationship forward, not Kenna. Kenna who by that time knows she has been pregnant for few weeks is happy with slow pace? Sure, makes sense.
I still suspect they gave Kennash the storyline they originally planned for s3 Frary.

I'm not surprised by that. Bash probably doesn't know much about reproduction, apart of the fun stuff, so he would assume that the last person to have sex with Kenna would also be the father.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kenna thought the same.

At this point, I don't see how the kid could be Renaude's.

Yeah, the more we talk about this, the more I conclude that their seriously deficient understanding of reproduction has led them to the wrong conclusion.

I think they at least wanted to give themselves the option of having her be pregnant from the point she has that conversation with Antoine about children and how she's more interested than Bash is, but they executed it really poorly once they decided to run with it.

I'm sure at the moment Kenna thought it was GRs or she would of told Bash when he confronted her. He wouldn't adandon his own kid.

The writers do suck good thing we have some new ones! (Did the old ones get canned?) I think they wanted to make Kenna preggo but my guess is they didn't know who they wanted the baby daddy to be. Lame.


Also, it's hard for me to believe that Kennash got it on as much as possible and used some kind of BC, but Kenna wouldn't use it with someone she didn't know very well. ( GR) and it caused her to get pregnant.

Honestly, they might just have pulled and prayed and it finally failed? (Because I'm increasingly convinced that this kid is Bash's. The plot holes otherwise are just gaping.)

When I started writing it, I didn't intend for it to end that way. But then it did. I'm not sure I can answer that question definitively either way. Never say never?

(I never intended to write a sequel for the thinnest of threads, then I wrote 2 and the unposted one is probably around 20K?)

Also the more we talk about it the more I'm convinced Kennas baby is Bashs and that something will keep Kenna from being able to get on her boat and leave.

Thanks! I was kind of worried about it (you can probably guess why).

And yeah, increasingly convinced the baby actually is a Kennash baby and they can't let Kenna get very far. Otherwise we might have actually seen her get on the boat? (Or had the scene at court be her last - essentially, not putting a pause on her departure as they did.)

And don't they have to pay the actors for 22 episodes? (I'm assuming we get a 22ep season). If CS misses a few episodes they will still have to pay her and shows typically don't like to do that..and I don't know if Reign could handle its second most popular ship not being around for awhile..if they make it seem like Kenna may never come back the casual viewer that's a Kennash shipper- would probably tune out.
Plus if they keep Kenna from leaving they won't have to cast a baby until probably the very end of the season.

Re: Timeline. A lot of TV writers are crap about their timelines. It's not really difficult to keep track. You just need to come up with a calendar and mark your events on it. When I write a major fic, that's what I do, so I don't screw up when I have the characters talk about events. I hate it when someone says Friday when in reality they mean tomorrow. IMO, there should be a timeline Calendar in the writer's room where they brainstorm, so that everyone can check, but really, you can even set these things up online if they aren't all in the same room all the time.

Based on the dialog Mona wrote out, I'm 99% convinced that this is Bash's baby. Kenna in 2x21 said that she and GR had been together for weeks because one does not talk about being together for weeks if in reality it's months they've been together. Also, as you guys have indicated, people didn't know about a woman's cycle other than if she bleeds, then no baby and that it takes about 9 months for a baby between sex and birth. As well, back then you didn't pee on a stick (though Catherine seems to have a POAS test. lol. but would she have shared it with Kenna?), so you know because you've missed a few cycles. Also, if you're not really paying attention, it could be a while before you think, hmmm, haven't had a period, especially if you show no symptoms you recognize. Could I be pregnant? Even if you did pay strict attention, which Kenna doesn't seem to be the type, you sort of have to wait 9-10 weeks before you can really be sure. 5-6 weeks and it could just be a stressed delayed cycle or an early m/c and with IVF, doctors have come to realize that there are way more early m/cs than anyone had ever considered, but because a lot of them don't even register as a pregnancy, they don't get counted as an m/c. That aside, you have to almost miss three cycles to be sure you are pregnant. Anyway, these are all logical arguments, I have to keep reminding myself that @Reignwriters can just wave their magic wand of Reign Logic and the baby remains GRs. I would be so disappointed but it would not be unexpected.

Also, if people say that Kenna can't be that pregnant since she's not yet showing, Kenna might be one of these people that one day just pops out like she swallowed a balloon at 6 months.

Regardless, we are pretty sure that Bash will be occupied with D for the first few episodes based on the finale so Kenna in Sweden/Norway for a few eps won't hurt, but like someone else said earlier, they could just toss that all out in the dustbin like they got rid of Pascal in 3x01.

Now that I've spent all my spare time reading and responding, I won't have time to read grace's fic until earliest tomorrow.
